Which side do you think is telling the truth?

After hearing about the time-stamped photos (http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=local&id=4091290) taken by party goers, I'm inclined to side with the players.

There are photos showing the stripper just after they arrived and the "victim" already had injuries and bruises on her legs that are clearly visible. Then, there is a photo taken a few minutes later showing the "victim" falling on her ass on the back porch.

If the photos are verified, they pretty much track the action from the time the strippers arrived until they left.

Also, I hear one of the alleged "rapists" has a taxi driver and an ATM receipt (http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/LegalCenter/story?id=1858806&page=1) that show he was not at the house when the alleged crime occurred.

If true, I'm wondering where they get their reputations back.

i think it was bullshit that they had their season canceled with not even an arrest... and i find it hard to believe she reported the incident so soon afterwards and there is no dna evidence.

right now, i'm siding with the players...

Oh, Gee!!

I don't care really. I do find the news coverage amusing, however. Nancy Grace has convicted the entire team already, and put them to death.

The wife and I were talking about this this morning.
I actually agree with Yonivore regarding the photos, except the part about the bruises being clearly visible. Doesn't look good for the prosecution.
And the other guy does have phone records, ATM receipts and record of when he arrived back in his dorm.
Not saying nothing happened but it doesn't look good.

I'm not too worried about these guys' reputation though. They have big time lawyers and plenty of connections so I'm not crying for them but it does suck.

From the story (http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=local&id=4091290):

12 a.m.: This is the first picture of the strippers. Students are watching the show, but not grabbing or attempting to touch the women. Bruises are clearly visible on the legs and thighs of the alleged victim.

12:00:40 a.m.: Another picture taken 40 seconds later shows bruises on the accuser's knees. Her right knee appears to have an open cut.

You could but, you'd be wrong. I'm not the one dismissing the damage to their reputations simply because they happen to be able to afford good counsel.

I'm also not the one who disagreed over a point of fact that was in a story (the visible bruises and injuries to the stripper prior to the alleged rape).

Maybe you're just plain lazy.

Well, your statement about is wrong.
And what, I can't have a different opinion than your allmighty one? Are you that perfect? Maybe you're too lazy to see another person's view?

So since I believe that these two gentlemen will do fine in life I'm morally lazy? Most of us won't even remember their names after this is all over. That's my view and I'm sticking to it. Sorry if it goes against your morality.

Do you ever get off your high horse?

Some will. That is enough. This woman accusing them, if they are found innocent, should be put on public display and mocked for twice the amount of time that these men are in the spotlight but of course that won't happen.

I concur.
Innocent people get accused of a crime every single day. It happens. When someone who is in prison and is found innocent due to DNA evidence or what not where is your outrage? It happens.

I haven't paid much attention, though it's not for lack of effort on the News/Sports Media's part in trying to get me to pay attention. I honestly haven't heard anyone discussing this around the office or anywhere else (and I think this is the first thread on the subject here) so outside of Durham, I'm not sure how newsworthy this is...

I hope whoever is lying pays for it... which is no different from how I feel about other sexual assault allegations, even those without the sexy racial and athletic subplots.

I smell a nice big civil law suite in the making. Also, we will see what happens
after the DA's election. The lady has nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Kobe Bryant sort of thing. Oh, and it will always be part of their criminal record
even if found innocent, unless their attorneys get it expunged through the courts.

As soon as I saw the video of that SOB DA smiling talking to reporters when he first started talking about this case, I knew something was amiss.

The DA in the Michael Jackson case was doing the same thing.

Grandstanding.

I was just a firm believer that Jackson was innocent of those charges with that kid as I am that these kids are Innocent, and the evidence that these kids are innocent is piling up a hell of a lot faster than anything that Jackson had.

Demand for Duke lacrosse gear soars
By Darren Rovell
ESPN.com

In the wake of publicity generated by the sexual assault scandal surrounding the Duke men's lacrosse team, sales of merchandise bearing the "Duke lacrosse" name and logo have skyrocketed.

"Historically, lacrosse has been one of our three or four best-selling sports," said Tom Craig, general manager of retail stores at the Durham, N.C., school. "But over the last month, sales have increased to three or four times our normal rate."

Despite the cancellation of the team's season April 5 -- or perhaps because of it -- the campus stores have experienced a run on merchandise related to Duke lacrosse, and therefore have continued to carry it. Developments in the case include the Tuesday arrest of two of the players.

They have a women's Lacross team that I believe is ranked #1 in the country.

That isn't the reason that the sales are happening, but it would be unfair to their fans and supporters if the sales of the merchandise were to stop just because of the men's team getting falsely accused of rape.
