I hadn't told anyone because I wasn't sure if it was going to work out, but I was accepted to and will be going to BYU.:) Yay for me, I'M GOING TO COLLEGE!

I'll be living with my best friend Ashley, who yes, is a Mormon (no more alone :elephant ). And I'm leaving this weekend.

Holy crap, has my life changed in the last year.

College wasn't so bad for the first 6-7 years. Then it got old.

You'll enjoy it. It can be fun and challenging at the same time.

My best advice is to maintain balance. You should have time to really focus on your work, have a ton of fun, and take care of yourself.

You'll likely come out different than when you went in, and that transformation can be exciting.

Now that Adrienne is there, they will have parties every day.

Congrats on college...we could have been friends....see avatar at left.... :lol

You are now the enemy. :)

I've got to tell you this as a person who is not Mormon and is from Utah- if you're not Mormon, you will be either :angel converted, or you will end up leaving. They are LDS fanatics in Provo, and they're not very tolerant of those who do not think like them.

I live in Arizona now. :spin

I had an officemate who went to BYU. He was on the Young Democrats there. It's a very small club, apparently.

I made a joke once about the Osmonds. Turns out he actually shared an apartment with Marie's future husband (and then subsequent ex-husband).

Going from Texas to Utah is like going from the frying pan to the deep fryer.

Repeat after me, there's nothing to do in Utah after 10 p.m..

I was in Utah in 1999 and then again this year. I don't know about the rest of the state, but the Olympics changed a lot in SLC. They're not the second coming of New Orleans, but they've loosened up quite a bit. You just have to know where to go.

Provo is probably quite different, though.

There's things to do after 10, one just has to know the right people. Bad news is that none of those people live in Provo. :lol

The thing about BYU is the LDS church controls one's entire life while there. Non-Mormons still have to go to seminary, live in "approved" housing, attend church, etc, as if they were Mormons. They still have to abide by BYU's code of conduct. No :drunk, no :smokin, and no :makeout

Only :angel

Oh yeah, and there's that yearly beatdown they have to take from their neighbors to the north in football!

hmmm..wouldn't that be because its a Church University? They let people know all this up front so one knows what they're getting into before they do it. Just a thought.

Congrats Adrienne on your decision and acceptance! I always wanted to go to BYU myself. There really are great people up there. You definitely have gone through a lot this past year and have remained strong. Good Luck girl, I wish you the best.
