I highly doubt it, if Nazr held that to the point of a shot clock violation. At least 15 posts would degrade his 'basketball IQ' and how he can't read, how he makes bonehead moves etc.......
FYI, I've never seen a team that was up by a considerable margin take a shot clock violation at the end of the game in all the NBA games I've seen.

In my years of watching the NBA, few things piss an opposing team off more than a center with no outside shot chucking threes at the end of a blowout. That's all I'm saying. It's just not a good idea with at least three more games to play.
It's a minor gripe, but a gripe. Nazr had a good game.

Not intended to be as argumentative as this sounds, just playing devil's advocate.
a.) Who really gives a shit if the Kings are pissed? If a 30 point assbeating isn't enough to make them angry enough to play with some pride, a cheap fucking uncontested three isn't going to make a blip on their radar.
b.) In all my years of watching the NBA, I have never seen a team intentionally take a 24 second violation and hand the ball back. I've also never seen a team not play defense and just expect someone NOT to take a shot.
c.) Their fucking starting small forward guaranteed a victory in the series. The three by Nazr is a drop in the bucket compared to that.
d.) I agree that it's a minor gripe. So minor, in fact, that it doesn't need anyone to try to make a mountain out of it.
EDIT: Sorry, please feel free to proceed with the subject change... :)

Good, maybe they'll show some fucking heart next game. It's too bad that the first 47 and a half minutes wouldn't give them any incentive to try. I think the whole series is going to turn because of a three pointer.

To adress the latter part of your arguement, because they were down 30, and trying anything.
So you want the Kings to play hard and try and beat the Spurs??
That makes sense....
Brodels
04-22-2006, 07:42 PM
Good start. The Spurs won't shoot like that in future games, but at the same time, I can't believe how bad the Kings defense was. They have a lot of different issues, but defense is the biggest problem there. They are soft inside and out; Artest is the only quality defender they have that plays big minutes.
But it could still be a long series, and a lot of different things could happen. Great start though.

If the Kings don't want to show up, that's their choice. The Nazr play was a microcosm of the game; if you don't even bother to cover somebody, does he really have a choice other than to knock down the shot?
Just to bring some sense of reality to this discussion, I think I'd be more pissed if my opponent just rolled the ball to the official with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

If the Spurs decide it's over it could very well be a long series. The Kings aren't nearly as bad as they looked. The Spurs shooting was extraordinary. They will more than likely have to win a game with their defense in this series. Sacramento's shooters are that good.

I'm not saying Nazr was right, or condoning it, but Barry and Nick took some threes also when they weren't necessary, they should have all made sure their foot was on the line. When you're up 31, it doesn't matter if there is 7:01 or :25 left, it is still running up the score.
4th Quarter
7:01 73-107 Brent Barry makes 25-foot three point jumper (Beno Udrih assists)
6:33 73-107 Nick Van Exel misses 24-foot three point jumper
3:09 82-118 Nazr Mohammed makes slam dunk (Beno Udrih assists)

Where do you draw the line, then? The possession before Nazr took that shot they could've also just run the shot clock out and they still would've won, so why not get on whoever took that shot? Or the possession before that... etc.
Mostly because it's Nazr.
Mostly because it's Nazr.

Someone tell Pop that the shot clock was at 32 when we got the ball back, we had to shoot again. :lol
Not with 10 seconds left on the shot clock.
If he had done that with time on the shot clock, you would have a point.
He did. Clearly.
THE SHOT CLOCK WAS RUNNING OUT!!!!!!!!!!! Explain to us exactly what he should have done.
No it was not. Look again.
It's a shame. Everyone played well, but Nazr tainted his performance with stupidity.

Maybe the media will help motivate the Kings and nickname Nazr "The Dagger"

That'll teach Potopenko not to leave Nazr unattended for his spot, his shot. :fro
OK
Case closed. The Spurs won this game.
Spurs: 122*
Kings: 88
*Nazr shot a three when he shouldn't have.

Cannot believe some of you people are bitching about a meaningless three taken by someone who had never hit one in his f*cking NBA career. Aren't you people (complainers) EVER happy?

I remember Nazr hitting a three in last years playoffs too. :lmao :lmao

I'll go what back to what my HS coach told us - it's their job to stop you. If they don't bother playing any defense at the end of the game, it's not your job to feel sorry for them.
Some of you are fucking pansies.

Tim Duncan hit a three against Chicago a couple years back and he didn't need to. Who the fuck cares.

The crowd (those of us left) loved it anyway. Everyone started laughing and cheering.

The TV camera showed Bruce on the bench getting Tim's attention. You could read Bruce's lips after Nazr's shot, talking to Timmy. He seemed to say "Pop is pi$$ed."
Pop was asked in the press conference tonight what he thought about Nazr's three.
Pop responded by saying how pleased he was with the bench players' performance tonight, smiled and moved his head quickly in a dodging motion to his left and retorted.."I dodged that one".

That's how we benchwarmers get out points. :lol

I remember my Freshmen year I got it in with time left and we were down by like 50. I copied what a NBA player did. I made a jumper and as I was running back and I just started poppin' my jersey and dustin' it off and then said to the opposing teams bench: You can't stop this.

We were awesome tonight. I know it was a number one against and eight seed and maybe that should temper my excitement... but damn! We rock!
If I remember correctly every one who played scored.
Sho hit both his free throws and nearly had a double double.
Nazr hit a three. I think that pretty much sums up our offense. And to hold them to 40%.
Ron Artest was right about Sac being the team to beat. He just forgot the on part as in beat on.
Whoosh! What a game! :elephant

If you're worried about how the other team feels, how about giving them a win to cheer them up instead of smoking them by 34?
