For all those who had hoped for the Spurs might perhaps pursue bringing back New Orleans Hornet backup PG Speedy Claxton to the Spurs family - don't get your hopes up too high.

Speedy Wants To Remain A Hornet
23rd April, 2006 - 5:37 am
The Times-Picayune - This summer, point guard Speedy Claxton will decide if he wants to remain with the Hornets or seek joining a team where he could become a starter.
On July 1, Claxton becomes an unrestricted free agent who can sign with any team without the Hornets having a chance to match the offer. But Claxton said he plans to instruct his agent, Bill Duffy, to start negotiations with the Hornets before exploring other offers.
"We've got some great guys, and I've made a bunch of friendships here," Claxton said. "Hopefully, I can come back and continue it."
Claxton could demand a three-year deal, worth between $3.6 million to $6 million per season. It's the second time since 2003 he will explore free agency. After winning an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2002-03 season, Claxton signed a three-year deal with the Golden State Warriors. The Hornets obtained Claxton in a trade with the Warriors for Baron Davis midway of the 2004-05 season.
Also, current Knicks coach Larry Brown, who has been experiencing health problems, was Claxton's first NBA coach after Claxton was the Philadelphia 76ers' first-round pick in the 2000 draft.
"It's all rumor that they (Knicks) might come after me," Claxton said. "That would be a dream come true to go home and play. I grew up watching the Knicks, and still up to this date I watch the Knicks. I root for them when they're not playing us. But I'm going into free agency with an open mind, giving the Hornets a first crack at it to see where they're at. If I don't like where they're at, then I'll open it up."
