Where is the killer instinct? The desire? The fire? Tony Parker is playing like a typical cocky ass Frenchman thinking he can just show up and get 20 and 10. He might... but it'll be 10 turnovers. Totally nonchalant with the ball.

Duncan is playing stubborn as well, and we're getting worked on the defensive end.

Show me some fucking fire San Antonio. Typically spineless showing...

Tpark - every time this team is in position to put its foot on someone's throat, they show up like it's a fucking pre-season game. Everyone saw it coming. Pop even talked about it today.

And now they tipped it up, same ol' same ol'...

It's not over by any means but I agree with AHF. I expect more out of this team.

The difference is that I'm not ANGRY with Nazr, AHF. I just recognize that he had better be packing. He is what he is, which is an average 6'10" guy who plays no defense.

Spurs need to make some defensive adjustments. Mainly, the coverage of Bonzi Wells. Put Bowen on him, other players seem to be feeding of his energy tonight as well. I wouldn't expect Kevin Martin to be playing this well against the Spurs.

Well, maybe not everbody on the Kings is feeding off Bonzi, considering the fact that Bibby is 1 for 7 and everybody else on the Kings aren't playing that well.

The main problem I see here is that Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili can't guard Wells 1-on-1 and I think Pop should put Bowen on him. :duh

It seems to me the biggest problem is the defense being played on Bonzi. Strangely not mentioned.

Well, I don't want to be accused of criticizing Pop, because according to the gospel around here he's a genius.

Apparently geniuses think that Manu trying to check Bonzi in the post is a good idea :rolleyes

Actually Bonzi flat out scored on Rasho and Duncan from a FACE UP attacking/driving position in the paint by just being aggressive. Bonzi had one good move on Manu that wasn't exactly a post up, and pushed him off for the score underneath on another play. Everything else Bonzi has got is just taking it hard at a stationary Duncan or Rasho, who are right there in his face but are simply getting punked by a 6'5" off guard.

Aggie Hoopsfan
04-25-2006, 11:09 PM
Nikos, point is that Bowen should be checking Bonzi, not Manu or Finley. Bonzi is just putting his head down and driving every time, I like Bowen drawing charges more than Finley.

I guess I shouldn't be suprised about tonight's lack of mental focus. This is how we've looked every time Pop gives the team a day off before a game.

Pop's been as big a pussy tonight with his coaching as our guys have been with their play (particularly at the defensive end).

Has Rahim passed Duncan on the NBA Power Forward Ranking list?

Seriously, even before Tim's foul trouble he has sized him and scored on him at will, and everyone else. What the hell is with Duncan? Can't he score or play D on Rahim? Is Rahim really that good?

To me Duncan needs 4-5 straight dominant games to make up for this horrible display. He simply needs to do more on both ends, this is unacceptable.

Nikos
04-25-2006, 11:26 PM
The SPURS will NOT win this series unless Duncan steps up.

The Kings won't even compete with the Mavericks if they happened to win this series. The Spurs simply can't defend underneath.

Bonzi can have 5 straight 30pt games along with Artest, but if Rahim is going to score whenever he wants and STOP Duncan, it doesn't really matter.

The Spurs got called for a lot of ticky-tack crap tonight in regulation. Sac had a 38-24 edge in free throws before OT (then the Spurs outshot them 12-0). Duncan got hit a few times in the post and nothing, while anyone who breathed on Shareef in the post got whistled.

The real clever part about that play was having Brent bouce it off the rim to waste another half-second before going in. That was some high basketball IQ there.

Remember Game 5 of Detroit when Horry missed his free throw on the and-1 off his shoulder-dislocating dunk? If he didn't set up the miss, then we would not have had the 2-to tie, 3 to win play to fall our way.

I think Manu Missed his free-throw in regulation so that he could set the Spurs up for another Playoff Last Second Heroic three! They're just toying with the their opponents.
They're good actors these Spurs.

This was exactly the kind of game I wanted... one where the other team pretty much controlled things, and played a better game for the most part. I wanted something the Spurs would have to fight like hell for, and Sacramento made them work for everything they got. Watching this game was like watching the Lakers play badly during the three-peat. No matter what the score was, you knew they were going to find some way to stay alive and sneak out with the win in the end. The Spurs experienced really shined tonight, and I'm always most satisfied by seeing the Spurs find ways to win games they play badly in, because you need to do it at least a couple of times to win a title.

T Park

Not exactly Sacramento's "best shot" but close to it.

Having to battle to win is something important for the mental toughness of Spurs team.

Being obliged to adapt their game & plan and to win in an "heroic" way is something crucial for the rest of the competition. They will face other situation like that and they prove to themselves that they can react!

AHF, why always refers to frenchman when it's for criticizing & just Tony when he's doing fine? Problem of ego? Being boo by woman? :madrun

04-26-2006, 06:13 AM
seriously we sucked in the first half playin from behind due to martin n wells killin us,

3rd quarter we came out strong, i was expecting us to keep these clowns under 16pts for the quarter, damn we had a 10pt lead and lost it when duncan picked up his 5th foul.

4th + OT, duncan played weak defense for 10mins which was very good, kept himself in the game, but still a presence on the court. i wanted to see more of him postin up down low since kings have no answer for him. sumtimes i think pop should just stop with the parker bs high pick and iso plays :(:(

anyway a win is a win, i take it.

"kings have no answer for him."

Kings had the same answer that has always pretty much neutralized Tim: front him plus perimeters players ready to sag, so IF he gets the ball, he's way out of the low block.

Tim shot some ugly, not-a-prayer bricks last night (nothing to do with his PF).

He needs to grow up, get smart, and quit bitchin at the refs every fucking time he shoots. That hasn't worked, has it?, and no-calls are FAR down the list of his problems.

He's learning from Nazr how to play defense.

Tim's so lackadaisical that when he actually shows some fire, it makes the NBA ads and highlight films. :lol He and Robert moseying down the court last night with no clue where the action was while Sac ran the ball up their backs in tranistion was horrible.

pop was genius on that play, but he was equally as bad when he took out Manu right after Tim sat with his 4th foul. Everyone knew it was a critical point in the game, spurs up by 10, but who was going to score. Manu answered the call on the 1st possession and then Pop sits him. Sac in the next 3 minutes tie the game with both Tim and Manu on the bench.

I'm just shocked that an "official complaint thread" only has 3 pages after 12 hours. If the Spurs had lost I figure it would have gotten big enough to crash the server.

This was a wake up call for the Spurs, thankfully they got out of bed just in time to win it.
