How much does it cost to get a dog fixed? I have a female Boxer that I need to get fixed, but I have no idea how much it will set me back. Any help?

I don't know if San Antonio has the same program, but the town I grew up in back in OK had a city clinic that would spay and neuter dogs/cats much cheaper than private vets. I think we paid like $35 dollars to get our female lab fixed. You might call the animal shelter and see if they know of any low cost spay/neuter programs in town. If you're military you can use the base vet clinics.

Thanks. I have a vet, but I'm sure they will charge a ton. I will talk to the shelter.

We just had a 40 lb basset hound done with all of his shots for $160 at Affordable Pet Care on Basse Rd. That even included his pain meds for home, which he didn't even need. (they were about $11, I think)

You could also look into the SNAP program (Spay-Neuter Assistance Program) offered by the San Antonio Mobile Clinic.

For a dog under 40 pounds, the price to spay is $60. If the dog is 40 pounds and over, it is $75. You can find more info here:

You gotta get there early!!!

They only take so many pets once they are at their quota that's it

I tried to take my dog twice and could never get in

Thanks, everyone. At least now I have an idea of what to expect. She's about 55-60 pounds but is current on all shots, so I guess I can prepare to spend $100-$150 or so.

We went there when Mr.Big got hit by a dually. 2 nights over night care, x-rays, meds & hip surgery only cost us $760. :tu

As far as getting fixed - I don;t know about SA, but in victoria I got it done at Adopt A Pet for $35.

You mihgt want to check with some of the no-kill shelters here in town.

I believe this is the one I used. I woke my ass up at 5:30 to get there (PetsMart) by 6:00 AM. When I got there, there was already 7-8 people in front of me.
