More than 25 years after its conception, Brian Wilson's long-shelved "Smile" has been recorded and released in its intended form. Of course, it's not the same Brian Wilson from his Beach Boys years... he's much older and can no longer hit the soprano notes he once sang so beautifully, but he has organized very talented vocalists and musicians to help him recreate the album he once shelved when he was too doped up and unstable to see it through.
It's recorded on 60's era equipment, so it sounds as if it had been recorded in 1967, albeit by a 50-year-old Brian Wilson.
