As recently as 2001, Steve Howe was attempting to influence kids with his straight talk about drugs and alcohol abuse.

I watched him pitch in the 1981 WS, he had promise as a young starter. If I remember correctly he was somewhat religious during that part of his life, not that necessarily means anything special.

Let's hope he was on the straight and narrow when he passed. Regrets are a bitch, and the family unit mourns no less because of bad decision-making.

I think what is sad about Howe is all the suspensions that he got the players association was always trying to get them reversed so he can play again. They never
did care if he went to rehab or try to get him off the drugs.

The MLBPA sucks.
