I think they need to SERIOUSLY re-evaluate the weightings of the votes. Someone shouldn't win because they got the most second place votes. A first place vote should be worth WAY more than a second. Something like

10 5 3 2 1 for the first five places.

This game wasn't the refs fault. It was the Suns who did the choking on their own. They missed key FT's down the stretch, they couldn't stop the Lakers at the other end, and Nash missed some pretty open 3 point shots.

Nash was calling timeout cuz they had one left to burn and you could see it in the replay. The refs just were looking to give the Lakers the benefit of the calls.

I know you're team hasn't advanced past the first round in the playoffs in quite some time...but this is the way it works. You're not going to get the refs to bail you out in close games. If there's a ambiguous call that can go either way (as was the case with the Nash jumpball at the end), most likely refs aren't going to call it. They're going to let the players just play the game. Yes, Nash may have been hit on that play, but replays show he did not call a timeout...and moreoever, his foot was out of bounds!! It could have easily been a TO instead of a jumpball.

Get over it...you're not even a Suns fan and it's not like the Nuggets are going to get the chance to play the Lakers in the second round anyways, so why do you care? :lol

FreshPrince22

Kobe's got a fire to his game - and the skill to back it up - that make people like to watch him when he's not playing against his team.

Nash was calling timeout cuz they had one left to burn and you could see it in the replay. The refs just were looking to give the Lakers the benefit of the calls.
He was being pummelled too.

No replays show that Nash didn't call TO, I think he figured Diaw behind him was. He was just trying to hold on to the ball and find some way out of the trap. He was definitely hit my Odom or whoever, but he also travelled...

BTW, Odom is owning Marion in this series.

Stockton and Malone were great, but they were two dirty motherfuckers. At least I can respect Nash without cursing him for an elbow, when he plays against my team. Nash' has a trace amount of defense..quit downplaying Nash's skill. He's an elite player in today's league. Complain about the league. The MVP shouldn't take away from any players or give them any more validation. Stockton and Malone were playing in the Jordan era. There were a ton of MVP's that got looked over in that decade. Probably not but it's how he handled it publicly that counts.

Both Manu and Nash fell victim to predictability. They knew Manu would take the clock down and try to come off a pick set to allow him to drive left. They were waiting and jumped him. Nash they knew he wouldn't give up the ball since he's the Suns best FT shooter and they jumped him, trapped him on the sideline just over midcourt. Can't be so predictable.

No but a bad call put the Lakers in position to win the game. I knew that shot was going in as soon as Kobe touched the ball.

I'm not angry at the game at all, shit happens. I'm simply disappointed in Spurs fans.

For what? saying shit happens. Get the fuck over it.

There were plenty of calls that went against the Lakers. There was a call that should have been a traveling on Diaw, a foul was called on the Lakers instead. They called a 3-second violation on Kwame in OT. Blaming the refs is pathetic. The LAKERS put themselves in a position to win.

Of course Kobe is a great player, the best in the league for sure and its great he has finally turned into a leader and i think Phil deserves alot of credit for that this season.

People have to remember also though that first and foremost the NBA is a business and is run by businessman. Players are just staff who get paid a heck of alot to work for organisations. The only thing stern and the owners care about in the end is the bottom line. The fans are customers and to get the best bottom line for the NBA it makes sense to want the bigger markets to have more success and to get further into the playoffs. Of course the NBA isnt totally rigged but it is a little bias towards getting the biggest bottom line.......

do you think Stern would prefer a Spurs-Pistons Finals or a Lakers-Knicks finals? Its ovious but even Stern couldnt help the knicks get there this year lol......

The lakers will get the benefit of the doubt and its pretty easy to see and understand. think what frustrates me is knowing that its all about the $$$ and the game can be tarnished because of that.

ShadddUP. It's just fantalk, I don't actually believe this too seriously, I'm saying it losely it's like when the Kings got jipped in 2002 you talk, or when the Patriots stole the game from the Raiders you talk, you blame the refs. It's called being biased for the team you like, or the against the team you hate and blaming the guys behind closed doors.

Walton grabs Jones on the lob. No call.

Yeah, refs are still making up for Game 1 where Kobe got hit on the head, despite taking 4 steps... I guess they had to go as absurd as possible and ignore timeouts and come up with an inexplicable jumpball in order to facilitate the all-LA second round the league wants.

Ginobili accidentally threw an elbow and caught Artest in the lip.

But, thats different right?
But IT IS. DON't IMPLY something in my posts that's not there. Any basketball fan who watched Malone, knew he did it with negligence.

The Utah Jazz were a dirty team. There IS a difference between being physical and looking for cheap shots. Artest is a bit dirty. Carmelo Anthony and Denver are dirty or Were Dirty, in that one Series last year at least...don't know about now. Manu is NOT DIRTY, He is physical. The PISTONS are not Dirty. They are Physical and THEY will HACK you, but they are not dirty. Malone will throw ELBOWS to intimidate and dare fuckers to try and take him on. Bowen is a pesky fuck who hits you with his hips, but does not look to sneak any harm against anyone, besides that "GTF off me" tap on the back on Ray Allen's bitchass.

There was a difference between Manu's and Bowen's physical play, and Artest's headhunting, just like Malone's elbow was different from Ginobili's elbow on a hustle play.

:I'll admit, I was wrong about the Lakers. Although u have to admit, I probably was not the only one who doubted them. :lolWe were ALL wrong about the Lakers. The Suns were wrong about the Lakers, even the Spurs (who wanted to meet them instead of us).

I personally hate the Lakers, but P-Jax's ingenius scheme has worked and the biggest miracle of all is that he was able to sell Kobe on it. Maybe Kobe was just pissed enough that the Suns would rather meet the Lakers (sans Nash & Bell in last regulation game) that he was willing to do whatever it took to WIN.

I give the Lakers loads of credit, and in particular P-Jax. Kobe could never have thought up this diabolical plan - to let others step up - all on his own, lmoa.

That was the best game of the first round. Even if you are a Laker Hater, all you gotta do is appreciate the game and you were very involved with that game in the end.

Lakers-SALUTE!
