- David Hyder, crew chief for car # 21 (driver: Ken Schrader/sponsor: Little Debbie) has been fined $5,000 and put on probation until Dec 2006 for rules violations (reportedly unapproved tire warming with a portable heater) in the #21 garage at Phoenix.

- NASCAR is requiring Kasey Kahne to get medical clearance in order to test at Lowe's Motor Speedway. He was injured in the crash during early laps at Talladega on Monday and NASCAR infield care medical unit would not clear him to re-enter the race. Hermie Sadler, who had wrecked out earlier in the race, finished the race (starting in lap 85) in Kasey's car; Kahne will get the driver points for finishing the race.

- RCR and Kevin Harvick have reportedly settled on a deal that will keep Harvick in a Childress car through 2009 - look for an announcement soon. It was speculated earlier in the season that Toyota was courting Harvick, who is in the final year of his current contract.

- The Michael Waltrip Racing team is currently courting Dale Jarrett - and Jarrett's sponsor, UPS - to drive one of the two Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Camry Nextel Cars for the 2007 season. UPS's contract with Robert Yates Racing is up at the end of this season. They are also negotiating with the recently retired Ricky Rudd to drive an MWR Toyota for a partial season. Waltrip has sponsorship for one of his two Busch teams for 2007 and would like David Reutimann to make the switch from racing trucks in the Craftsman Series to racing cars. Joey Miller is apparently a candidate for the other MWR Busch car. MWR has made it clear that Toyota is not participating in the negotiations with drivers or sponsors.
