I don't think anyone hated him. They just didn't understand why he was sucking.
Props to Manu, Tim, Tony, Bruce, and Fin (and everyone else) for coming to play.

Did he actually drive through traffic and dunk it with authority?
When was the last time that happened?!

props to Manu for actually showing up after not going to Sacramento the first time.
One game doesnt excuse those performances in Sacramento.
Bring it in game 6, and all is forgiven.

Good job Manu. I didn't hate him after those last 2 games, I was just very very angry with him. I guess my "if manu finishes the game with less than 15 points, i will hunt him down" comment before the game worked. I was serious, and I'm so glad I don't have to go through with it.

He only had a few iso plays against Artest....Pop was giving him some help out there, be it with screens, picks, or etc.

You can't be a Spurs fan and hate Manu...it just doesn't work that way. I just believe people were fustrated with his play and had to vent, no worries though Manu came through for us, just as expected. I hope he keeps up that intensity in Sacramento.

What an idiotic statement. What Spurs fan could possibly hate Manu??????
I love the guy, even with his sometimes boneheaded passes and decisions. His heart is as big as anyone in the NBA, and he competes every min he is in the game.

What's scary is that this has proved that no matter how well Tim or Tony plays in the playoffs, without Manu bringing it we are in trouble. Barry and finley are good but cannot compensate for a passive Manu. By the way, starting Horry was a great move.

By the way, starting Horry was a great move.
AHF does not recognize Pop's good decisions, it is good that some people do. What it did, was give the Kings another worry defensively, and anytime you can do that, it is a good move.

Artest quote:
"He's a great player," Artest said. "He might not be as publicized as a LeBron James or a Kobe Bryant, but I play him as if he's like Kobe or Michael Jordan, you know? He's so talented and so athletic, you have to give 100 percent every minute of the game or he'll scorch you."

"No, it's really team defense that's doing it," Artest said of stalling Ginobili. "He's such a good slasher. He's so quick. It's been the whole team that has slowed him down."

hey critique him all you want. I never said he didn't suck in those 2 games, never. Critique his performance all you want, but to critique his character and skills as CBF was doing after a mere 2 games then yes, I think that is stupid

But after watching this series, Artest can guard anyone.

I don't think its bullshit. I think the guy has a lot of pressure, and if you people didn't have an idealised version of Manu in your heads perhaps you would allow for the possibility that the man can fuck up, and that it doesn't make him any less a player than he was two games ago.

I think everyone was suprised manu let that turnover bother him the next game
they did not expect that from him other players but not him
they held him above that they were dissapointed in him
he has played well 2 out of 5 games one with ron not playing
the spurs need him to play well more then that
not sure if spurs can win if he plays the way he is in every playoff series

You don't know what the hell you are talking about. Artest is a good defender but he can't guard everyone! Bowen is having a hard time with Wells because Wells is much bigger and is a bad match up for bowen. That is like putting Artest on TD. TD would kill that fucker in the post, and you know it. It's a game of matchups... Artest matches up fairly well with Manu (although Manu should have come with more FIRE in games 3 and 4. Artest wouldnt have been able to handle him just like last night) but would match up horribly with TD. Bowen matches up very well with the likes of Kobe, Chauncey, Rip, and other guards but not well with Wells. The reason Bowen has to play Wells is because none of our bigs can guard him on the perimeter. Artest is good, but has not shut guys down as consistently as bowen. Just look at game 7 against chauncy... that is clutch defense.

for knowing you on this board I've learned not to pay any attention whatsoever to what u say, but to judge a player's ability on 2 games is just lame.
Artest is a pretty good defender, but to call him the best cuz he played well Ginobili is beyond stupidity.
And where was Artest in game 1? How about last night? How about next friday when he'll be exposed again?
Artest had a momentum goin' as the whole Kings team had.
Just like tony seemed to be the next Jordan in the LA series in 2004. in TWO games.

its the characteristics of the situation that makes these particular PO games so important and necessary of manus best play.
1. ron artest was shutting ginobili down
fucking artest is a punk ass and granted he's been well behaved this series i will never put it past him to blow up on somebody.
2. 1 v 8 seed 1st round
who gives a shit if it was "a team playing better than an 8" and "a different team since the trade".
3. Manu playing sub par and with innjuries all season
4. kevin martins eraser head running around scoring points and dropping game winners
Manu knew the importance and he showed it in game 5...just not in 3 or 4

are you serious?? why are you underestimating the Kings so much? (which technically its no longer underestimating since they've already proved they are better than originally estimated). The kings are a good team, and Artest is a great defender, now I realise Manu didn't play at his best on games 3 and 4 but Artest sure as hell had something to do with that.

you can't just look at this year. The guy has been clutch, and came out clutch again in game 5. Look for Manu to click it up a notch. You have to look at the past to figure out what a player may do in the future. Otherwise, you are guessing blindly. And two games dont mean shit especially when they were the same two games played against seattle and detroit last year. It's all happened before, and Manu rises to the occasion every time. Just look back to see what happens...

That's cool. I just dont understand how so many people act like they are jumping off the wagon when the spurs lose back to back playoff games on the road after winning the first two. The spurs do it almost every single time, then they come back for 5 and 6. It's almost clockwork. I looked over the posts after game 4 and the only guy who pointed this out was some guy named FloppinGreat or something like that. Almost everyone else was whinning about the loss. We all should be used to this by now.
