Do you go ahead and go after Devin Brown if the Jazz don't pick up his option for next season? Devin is a better matchup to guard either of those players than anyone the Spurs have. All of the Spurs' swingmen are skinny, while Devin has some thickness.

Would you try to bring him aboard or look in a different direction?

Oh and thank you Peter Holt for getting rid of Devin. Sure made this series a whole hell of a lot easier.

devin would be down for that

seriously though, if his back isnt a long term serious problem then I say why not? He showed promise while he was here

Pop said it and to quote "Devin hasn't been the same player since he hurt his back". Spurs need to go after a longer three who can rebound.

I think he is an option
but do you get him over scola?
scola will want all the mle!
ofcourse of spurs could trade rasho or a big then.....

Isn't there a possibility that the Spurs can still trade Barry for JR Smith?

I like Devin Brown, alot. He's exactly what the Spurs stand for. I say we go for him, but only if we continue to explore other options at the same time....we need a that damn elusive long three

Leetonidas
05-03-2006, 08:17 PM
What about JR Smith? Isn't it likely the Spurs will pursue him in the off season?

Why wasn't Bonzi kicking the Spurs ass in the 2004 NBA Playoffs?

I honestly thought that Devin's trip to Utah was a sort of NBDL for him. We didn't have the room for him so we let him leave for a year to go somewhere he would get minutes and mature as a player. I always thought he was a great fit for our system and he is a pretty good ft shooter and can get hot from the field on occasion. I say go for him.

Glen Robinson would have been really nice to have back.

this offseason? Yes I say go after him.

I don't think Pop would want to, but I would.

Although, it would depend on what Scola wants to come over here, and get him that, before you worry bout Devin.

You also see what you can get for Nazr in a sign and trade.

Bigger question is, does anybody think Utah won't pick up his option. I think they probably will to give Devin time to continue developing in Sloan's system.

That team wouldn't have SNIFFED the playoffs, if it wasn't for his coaching.

If that team stays healthy all year, they win that division....

Devin might have been useful.

However, I'm not convinced that this is anything more than a contract run for Bonzi, and who knows what happens with Artest after the honeymoon's over.

So, unlike what we did when we got Bruce to guard Kobe, I don't know that I go about getting players specifically with the Kings in mind.

The other question is how much more undeveloped potential does Devin really have? I don't think there's that much.

T Park
05-03-2006, 11:45 PM
Devin knows the system, is athletic, can hit the J better now.

I just wonder about that back, CIA has said it changed his game, but, of course, that is to deflect blame Im sure.

Just like not playin Nazr.

Blame? For what, playing behind Manu, Bowen, Finley and Barry? Catching Devin a few games in Utah he didn't look so hot most of the time.

Devin hasn't exactly set the world on fire in Utah and he's not really the big, tall, athletic SF we'd all like to see.

Atlanta, for God's sake had a slew of these types of players on the roster this year. It can't/shouldn't be that hard to find one in the draft or FA. Hell, Bonzi is gonna be available this year if we can find the cap room somehow.

Buddy Holly

Devin fucking Brown.

I was really surprised to see you guys let him go. Not only do you miss his strength on the perimiter, but his ability to slash and drive hard to the basket. With Manu ailing so much this season, most of your wingmen are now primarily jumpshooters.

If the Spurs are looking for a bruiser that can bang with Artest and Wells (is this really necessary for next year?) I'm sure they can find one in the draft.
