I have outlook 2000 loaded on my box by default even though I don't use it and it picked up the bloodhound virus...I am trying to download the patch from microsoft but outlook 2000 is not listed...the following single user options are listed...

• Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5 SP2: Download the Update

• Microsoft Outlook Express 6: Download the Update

• Microsoft Outlook Express 6 SP1: Download the Update

• Microsoft Outlook Express 6 SP1 (64 bit Edition): Download the Update

anyone know which would be the right one?

http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/outlook/default.asp

You need to look for Outlook, not Express. You should be able to find what you need at that page.

There is no Bloodhound virus.

Bloodhound is a generic name used by Norton Anti-Virus that it might have found an unknown virus. Sometimes this is a false alarm, sometimes a real alarm on a virus unknown to NAV.

Update Office 2000 (Outlook is part of it, express isn't), and update your virus definitions. Hopefully it'll be a false alarm.

you are better off not using bill gates junk
use http://www.mozilla.org/products/
Thunderbird: Reclaim Your Inbox
Thunderbird 0.8 is Mozilla's next generation e-mail client. Thunderbird makes emailing safer, faster and easier than ever before.
or
Mozilla Suite

funny...symantec named it bloodhound.express.6 and then sent me to the express patch...

Then your outlook 2000 is ok. outlook express is the one that needs updating.

the funny thing is if express is installed it doesn't even show on my list of programs...

Outlook express is part of the windows install so it does not show in the programme list if you want to check its status go:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programmes->Add/Remove Windows Components. That's where you'll find outlook express.

spybot
search and destroy
if you want to pay for one
I heard pestpartrol.com works

if you use firefox it does not matter
if you still have spy software with popups
spyware still slows the computer down

12,500! using spybot

it had so many spies on it it would not even let me install adware in normal mode
I had to boot it in safe mode

I have outlook 2000 on my computer, I haven't received any email viruses. I use a program called eremove. It's a small program so that you can check your email before downloading it onto your computer.
