I know there's a thread on him right now, but I believe this stunt deserves some extra attention. Also the finale is on tomarrow night (Monday) at 7:00-9:00.

This guy has been in what ammounts to a glass aquarium for almost a week now. He is fed a liquid diet of gatorade, pedialyte, and water through a tube, and has a catheter to deal with the side effects. He is also on an oxygen supply and has the ability to talk to the media and onlookers through a kind of mask. Salt water, around ~95 degrees, liquid diet only, sleeping in water, for a week. Cool, but the kicker is what he wants to do.

After the week has ended, and without leaving the tank, he is going to be chained to a weight and attempt to free himself, all the while breaking holding his breath in an attempt to break the 9-minute barrier. If not, he drowns. Either way, we'll see it.

Stay tuned. My vote is he lives.

He has little rebreather tubes put on with Hollywood makup and special effects.

It's just an illusion.. No human can hold 9 minutes. Well without passing out and needing cpr / shock.

Breather tubes? Right..... good luck keeping the Hollywood makeup on for a WEEK IN WATER

This dude worked with professional freedivers, nutritionists, personal trainers, and navy SEALS, to learn to hold his breath. This isn't so much an illusion as it is a stunt.

I think, assuming he makes it, it will be because of a combination of extreme training, a natural athletic ability, and possibly the changes in one's heart rate after being submerged for a week in water.

here is the link to a story on a diving website (http://www.deeperblue.net/article.php/724/58) This shit is real.

It's called Magic dude... working with Seals etc.. blah blah..

You can't hold a single breath for 9 minutes... get serious.

And yes they can put tubes in. You don't think they have waterproof makup stuff?

I'll probably check it out and I watch network TV. I don't have any of the premium channels.

The world record for breath holding is at 8 minutes and 47 seconds right now, so I'll have to disagree :spin

Anyone remember what happened when Blaine tried his box endurance trick in london?

London police have arrested a man who allegedly tried to cut a water line sustaining a United States magician who is trying to live without food for 44 days in a box dangling near Tower Bridge.

New Yorker David Blaine reportedly was woken by the suspect, but was not injured.

London's Metropolitan Police said they had received a report that a man had climbed onto a water tower near Blaine's box.

"The man threw water bottles and other objects from the tower, and tried to cut through water and cable lines connected to the tower, but without success," police said in a statement.

"He came down of his own accord at 5.18am. A man in his 40s was arrested for criminal damage, and was taken to a south London police station."

Blaine, 30, a former street magician, specialises in feats of endurance. He once spent 35 hours standing atop a 30m pole in New York, and had himself encased in ice for three days.

Since he entered the box on September 5, Blaine has been jeered, pelted with eggs, taunted with food, and woken by drummers - although other Londoners have expressed support for his stunt.

A report in London's Evening Standard newspaper said the suspect had rocked Blaine's box by pulling on mooring cables, and shouted: "Go home, David! Go back to America! We don't want you here!"

The newspaper said two companions of the suspect apparently had distracted security guards, but the companions had eluded arrest.

I'll be watching. I like his shows and wonder how he does most of those tricks. My favorite one has to be when he went to the Dallas Cowboys locker room and messed with one of the Coaches.
