We've said all along that Dice is a 6th starter. IMO, he's like an All-Star in the 25 minutes he is able to play. The downside is he can't play 35-40 minutes at that level for 82 games. His mid-range J is automatic and he's great on the boards. The only problem is the ticky-tack fouls and occassional late rotations defensively.

Flip's offense was made for Dice though. Mid-Range shots galore.

Ben is still Ben. He does't show up because we don't need him YET.
Do you think we need to play grind out defense when playing teams like Bucks and Cavs? We can simply outscore them. When we play NJ, MIA or SA, Ben will show up.

so he is getting paid to do nothing because he is not needed right now?

that is why he is not worth the max

I am not saying worth or doesn't worth. As long as we are winning we don't blame him for not showing up. ^^

Everytime I catch a Pistons game, it seems like Dice is giving the other team all kinds of trouble.

I can't believe the Pistons have Rasheed Wallace and Antonion McDyess as role players.

11 boards, 4 rebounds and the team wins by almost 30, not a bad days work.

But I agree ducks, Ben's worth a lot but I don't think he's worth the max. The problem with that is that there are teams out there that are willing to give Ben the max.
I think he'll settle for less and stay with the Pistons.

The Pistons wouldn't be contenders without Ben. Period.

I am not convinced that the Pistons would be even a decent defensive team without Ben.

I've done the numbers crunch. The Pistons aren't a great defensive team without Ben Wallace. Little things like Tayshaun Prince taking the worst shot of his night because the shot clock was down to 2.

Audible in my house:

"Tsk. What a bad shot."

Meanwhile, Ben Wallace grabs the offensive board, gets the ball out to Rasheed Wallace and boom - made 3-pointer.

"Thank you Ben."

He's not a defensive force - he's the human eraser of mistakes on the basketball court.

I think it was in a Free Press article by Mitch Albom a few weeks back (it was posted here but I'm lazy and don't feel like finding it... sorry) that Ben knows he'd be offered the max, but he doesn't want to go to a team that would have to clear out talent/salaries in order to pay him. He doesn't want to go to a losing team, so that bodes heavily in the Pistons favour. He also knows this is his one chance to get paid, so he must be feeling some conflicting emotions there. And who knows what firing his agent meant.

Ask Drew Gooden if Dice is better than Ben. He is the ultimate human eraser indeed.

I hope pistons sign him to the max because in 2 years when chanucy is a fa the cavs willl have a big problem and ben will be on the decline

We can give them both max deals and be fine. They won't get max deals, but we could if it came to that.

The Spurs will have to rebuild in a few years just as the Pistons will. There isn't some Tim Duncan Jr. out there waiting to pick up where Tim will leave off in a few years.

the spurs atleast have a young stud parker
prince is young though for the spurs

I know they will have birdrights to sign them but will the owner want to
terry is rumorred to be wanting 10 million a year chanucy is better then him

:lol Yea, Mahinmi will replace Duncan... Good luck with that one. He'll replace Nazr. That would be a good projection. Have you ever even seen the guy play outside of a highlight clip or two? Sorry, but Tim Duncan's don't fall past the 1st pick in the draft. You can grab a diamond in the rough guard or two or maybe a servicable big man, but a 25/12 HOFer big man? Doesn't happen. I don't care what hole in the wall your scouts pulled him from.

And how is reaching for a guy no one had heard of "getting lucky"? D-Rob going out for a season and having the ping-pong balls fall your way is getting lucky.

Joe D turned a lottery team into a 5X 50+ win team after 1 year in the office. No drafting required. All free agents.

Terry isn't getting 10 mil from anyone. Chauncey will get Nash type money.

terry gets lucky and beats the spurs with impressive numbers cuban would open the bank

but tp will keep that from happening

if tp ands the three point shot to his game
and 2 more years with chip
tp could be the francise and then they would not need a guy as good as duncan down low

it would help though

spurs need a young long three right now (someone like prince )

Tony is a great young player, but you gotta understand that Tim Duncan is a huge reason he gets those wide open layups every two seconds. He demands doubles, and those doubles come off of Tony since his jumpshot is the most suspect of the Spurs main players.

Not to say he wouldn't still be a very good player without Tim, but we're talking about a PG here. AI is the ultimate scoring PG of this era. What has he won?

Every team goes through cycles. The Spurs are one of the rare teams that skipped a cycle because of David Robinson's injury that gave you Tim Duncan. Unless you plan on doing that again then the Spurs (and Pistons) will fall out of contention in a few years. It's inevitable. Luckily for us, our teams have good management that will turn it around before too long.

:tu

It will happen. TD is....well, hes the fucking man. There hasnt been a TD-type player SINCE TD (maybe CB4, but...TD owns).

He is a once-in-a-lifetime player. He was put in alongside DRob, composing one of, if not the most dominating front lines in the modern NBA.

So, when Duncan retires (or God forbid seomthing else...), who are you going to "plug-in" at the 4? Your team will still be a contender, but no Championships I gaurantee.

Hey, Pistons are in the same boat. Ben isnt forever, nor is Sheed. Billups, Tay and Hamilton will be here forever and theyre young. Our frontline is totally lacking when I look into the crystal ball though.

By the time Ben's in full decline we'll have another Ben to take his place. That would be none other than Jason Maxiell. (I'm hopin')
