Murdoch to host fundraiser for Hillary Clinton campaign

Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul whose New York Post tabloid savaged Hillary Clinton's initial aspirations to become a US senator for New York, has agreed to host a political fundraiser for her re-election campaign.

The decision underlines an incongruous thawing of relations between Mr Murdoch and Mrs Clinton, who in 1998 coined the phrase "vast rightwing conspiracy" to denounce critics of her husband, such as Fox News, the conservative cable channel owned by Mr Murdoch's News Corporation.

Mr Murdoch will host the fundraiser, due to be held by July, on behalf of News Corp.

One person involved in the event said it reflected his views of her as a senator, rather than as a presidential candidate. "They have a respectful and cordial relationship. He has respect for the work she has done on behalf of New York. I wouldn't say it was illustrative of a close ongoing relationship. It is not like they are dining out together."

The tabular content relating to this article is not available to view. Apologies in advance for the inconvenience caused.

The decision reflects an assiduous courtship by Mrs Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. Last month Mrs Clinton surprised Washington by attending the "Fox News Sunday" 10th anniversary party, where she chatted with Mr Murdoch.

I've written before about the incestious relationship between Hillary Clinton and the wing-nut media. This could be that Murdoch just sees ($$) opportunity in a Hillary Clinton nomination, or the wing-nut media is trying to court Hillary into running as a democrat because they think she can't win. None-the-less it is surprising that Hillary would even accept Murdoch money, much less be associated with FAUX News.

DR you and I have discussed this before. I really don't have a concern about it,
if the Republicans have someone to put up against her. I don't see that someone
as yet. Remember what happened when they (republicans) ran whats-s-face, the
viagra guy, shows you how his name resonated with me and others. It could happen
again. Hell Clinton wasn't that popular, he got 40 percent of 40 percent of the
votes, but it was enough to make him President. I will vote for the Conservative
person. More than likely the Republican.

Am I interpreting you correctly when you basically said that Republicans dont have someone to put up against her (yet)?

I disagree. We're talking about precendent here. This is a FEMALE running under a major political party. Un-fucking-heard-of.

I think history is against her anyway. Whatever scrub the Repubs put out there would probably win on gender alone. Im being serious.

^^you aren't that serious are you DR. Ms. Rice could possibly be the
Republican pick, she says no, but that can change in a heartbeat. Hillary
is going to be right up there in the next Presidential election, bet on it and
she is going to run a good race and everyone else had better be prepared for
it. Frist has his sights set on the President, but I just cant see it. Capable, maybe
but he hasn't got the press, as yet. Name recognition I am talking about.

Relax Colonel, Hillary is concentrating on her Senate re-election which seems a lock and has not said she intends to run, then there is the straw polls which have her not even in the top 3 Democratic possible runners. I don't know why everyone, and by that I mean the wing-nuts, assume she has the Demo nomination locked-up.

how is the relationship between hillary and the media incestuous?

Hillary is every much pro-big business as Clinton and Bush were, so in some ways the M$M loves Hillary. However, the wing-nut media knows that a Hillary administration would target unfair practices by conglomerate, syndicated radio which pumps out wing-nut hate-radio 24-7.

Hillary is not even in the same zip codes as likely 08 Democratic candidates: John Kerry, Al Gore and Wesley Clark...

DCCC keeping score
By Josephine Hearn

Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) is tracking how helpful Democratic presidential hopefuls are to candidates endorsed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), he told his colleagues at a recent political dinner.

The effort is similar to a system he has set up to track how much his fellow House Democrats help the party committee, both financially and in such non-quantifiable items as mentoring and travel.

Topping the list now is Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who donated $500,000 to the DCCC and has helped in numerous individual campaigns. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) described Kerry’s efforts as “phenomenal.”

Other standouts include retired Gen. Wesley Clark and former Vice President Al Gore. Clark held fundraisers with Kentucky Democratic candidate Mike Weaver and California Democrat Steve Filson. He also sent out an e-mail singing the praises of candidate Eric Massa. Gore raised over $200,000 for the DCCC, which Emanuel chairs.

...but according to the wing-nut media, she already has the Demo nomination locked up!
