View Full Version : Is GM3 a must win?

I see it that way, already the Spurs lost HC, so comming back will be very hard if down 2-1

Vashner
05-11-2006, 05:52 PM
Technically no.

mookie2001
05-11-2006, 05:53 PM
^I agree with vashner, if they lost they would be down 2-1, and Dallas would have to win 2 more games to win the best of 7 series

SAGambler
05-11-2006, 05:54 PM
Not game three.... Now I think if they lose that one then Game 4 pretty much becomes a must win....although technically they could drop 3 and 4 and still win the series.

Must win this, must win that. Every game is a must win.

You only play one game at a time. If they're down 2-1 and they win Game 4, they're sitting pretty with home court again going back to SA for game 4.

However, they at least need to be in game 3, unlike game 2. But if they drop a close one, they're certainly still in the series.

Must play better than the game 2 debacle.

Spurs need to win Game 3 and/or Game 4.

Kori Ellis
05-11-2006, 06:17 PM
I think that if the Spurs drop Game 3, it will be extremely difficult for them to win Game 4 because the Mavs will be at home, very confident and have the momentum. And I don't want the Spurs to come back home down 1-3. So to me, Game 3 is what I would term a "must-win" ... though technically only elimination games are must-wins.

greyforest
05-11-2006, 06:22 PM
i agree with kori. a must win game would be if mavericks have 3 wins.

going down 1-2 isn't fatal, neither is 1-3. ask the suns about that if you don't believe me. 0-3 however is statistically proven to be fatal...so far, except in baseball. course going down 0-3 and winning 4 in a row probably depends on their team suddenly having massive injuries, or mid-series retirements (ie, highly unlikely)

The Suns were only the 8th team to come back from 1-3. That shit won't happen twice in the same postseason. Spurs need Game 3 to get their confidence back, and I am positive they'll be out there with killer instinct.

RON ARTEST

the spurs are a championship team. they just need to split game 3 and 4. if they dont split they are still very capable of winning the series even though it would be tough.

I think it's a statement game. Spurs got run out of their home court. They need to come back strong this game to show that they are still the defending champs. I expect Spurs to win Game 3. Finley, Barry, Horry, and Manu are all due for a good game...

i think if manu doesnt start playing well pretty soon and the spurs end up getting eliminated, it may be time to trade him. i know some of you love his game and everything but i think with the way he plays hes not gonna play to much longer and they should probably look to move him now while his value is still high. plus tony parker is the real future. hell hes already the best player on the team imo.

Yea, I'll bet you wouldn't mind having Manu traded to the Kings...

No, but they have to win at least 1 of the two road games IMO. The Mavs are too good to come back from 1-3.

I think they will though. This should be 2-2 heading back to SA.

MavsFanForLife
05-11-2006, 07:59 PM
Yes, for Mavs.

Everygame against the World Champions is a must win. I was still sweating the 15 point lead in the 4th on Tuesday. Should be a great game no matter what.

I've been looking forward to the series since December so I wouldn't mind each game being close and having it go 7, of course if the outcome is on the right side. Otherwise, more 20pt wins for the next 3 and on to LA.

Game 3 or Game 4. As long as the Spurs return to San Antonio with home-court, they will be fine. But a 2-1 series lead would give a lot of confidence to the Mavericks. But by no means does losing game 3 mean the Spurs will lose the series.

05-12-2006, 01:53 PM
It's a must win only if you want to win the series.

cheguevara
05-12-2006, 02:02 PM
NOPE even down 3-1 we still have a chance. It's not like it's never happened before. This series is going to 6 or 7 anyway, so lottal basketball to play and lotta chances for Spurs

We have to take at least one game in Dallass.

Ed Helicopter Jones
05-12-2006, 02:58 PM
I'm with most everyone else in here. I think a split in Dallas is almost a must.

Dallas is too good and the Spurs have been too sporadic to hope for three straight Spur victories if we fall down 3-1.

????????

SA goes back to ATT up 3-1. Count on it.

I hope the Spurs take both games in Dallas.

so win it spurs tang ina talaga!!!

Technically no.

You are right technically no. If Dallas were to win this Game then it will help them mentally. If the Spurs are to win this game then they will take back any edge that Dallas gained mentally after the Game 2 win.

EVAY
05-12-2006, 05:10 PM
If the spurs lose game 3, the Mavs will be too hyped to worry about game 4. They (the Mavs) will get overconfident and the spurs will win three in a row then. So ...no....game three is not a must win. A loss might be what the Spurs need to get them to gear their game up.

when's the last time the spurs were down in a playoff series 1-2 or 1-3? just wondering b/c i can't remember how long it's been but my feeling is that the spurs always respond, much like the pistons do, with their backs against the wall which is why it's gonna take 7 games to beat us if dallas can do that. The only must win game is an elimination game which won't be game 3.

Fabbs

Gm 3 is not a must win.

Game 4 will be a must win for whomever loses Gm 3.

It is "must earn your money" time for Finley.

More than likely they will fail.

So now it's more than likely....

I thought it was

Make no mistake, The Dallas Mavericks are going to the Western Conference Finals and will win this seriers in 5 games, 6 max.

The Spurs don't have the firepower to combat with the Mavs, we are very tough at home and usually blow out visiting teams, your best chance to win a Game is game 5 but you will be down 3-2 when when you go back to Dallas (if that happens)...

Mavs in 5

Prepare your fishing rods... :elephant

BTW my prediction for Game 3

Spurs 89
Mavericks 110

The closer to game day, the more Mav fan is worried.

The Pistons fell down 2-1 against Maimi and Indy last season, but still won the series. It would be a good win, but it's not a must win.

And let me tell you the Spurs are not known for coming back when trailing a series.

Mavs and Suns DO come back to win series after trailing..

Let's not forget last year when the Mavs were down 0-2 to the Rockets, came back and won it in 7 games.

Against the genius that is Jeff Van Gundy? Wow!
It will be tough for Spurs to come back from 1-2. Hardly impossible.
Time for Pop to step up. Either get O & D production from Finley and Beno/VanX or get them off the court. Barry at backup pt seems the best move. Expierementation time is over.

A-Train
05-13-2006, 01:42 PM
But the Spurs are not the Pistons or the Suns who came back from a 1-3 deficit.

I've seen some fairly stupid Mav Fan statements but this one takes first prize.

Who is going to forget when the Mavs were down 0-3 to the Blazers a few years ago, came back and won the Series..!

C'mon...weak come back

Uh, Dallas was UP 3-0 on the Blazers a few years ago and the Blazers came back and forced a game 7. Dallas was down 0-2 to the Jazz like 4-5 years ago when the first round was still a best of 5 and they came back to win the series 3-2.
