He just picked the Spurs to win game 4. W O W ... I was just gonna start a thread about how everytime the spurs face adversity against a quality opponent its seems like no one thinks they can surge back and here is Fred Carter...out of all people!!!!... well thanx Fred Carter, I appreciate the love...

It has been my observation that Fred Carter knows basketball better than just about any of the other commentators.
Charles and Magic come in after them. Charles may not be the most articulate person in the world, but he understands the game better than most anybody else out there on the networks.

There is a first time for everything.
Spurs have never won a series when being down after 3 games in the Tim Duncan era I heard on ESPN...
Well the series never went to a game 7 in the Tim Duncan era and they did last year in the Finals....and we won

Yeah, I agree. Not all stats are of equal value. How often did we have home court advantage (when the series started) and find ourselves down 2-1? Might be a pretty small sample.
Lots of stuff that is not intrinically improbable has not happened up to this point. We can come up with plenty of examples if we wanted.
Believe!

Oh yeah? So last year he said the Mavericks were the team when nobody else would give them much coverage. Agree with that too? He's often wrong about his picks.

Spurs have not lost 3 in a row all year. This will be the Spurs best game of the series.

Carter is good and never fumbles for a word, makes intelligent comments. Only con is that sometimes he talks so fast he makes a mistake(mixes up teams, players, etc.). Small price to pay for a good and entertaining experience.

I was trying to remember the last time the Spurs were down after 3 games in a playoff series. It was 2002 against LA, in a series in which the Spurs started on the road. Here's a list of all series and the standing after 3 games:
2006 1st Round v. SAC (2-1, SA)
2005 Finals v. DET (2-1, SA)
2005 WCF v. PNX (3-0, SA)
2005 WCSF v. SEA (2-1, SA)
2005 1st Round v. DEN (2-1, SA)
2004 WCSF v. LAL (2-1, SA)
2004 1st Round v. MEM (3-0, SA)
2003 Finals v. NJ (2-1, SA)
2003 WCF v. DAL (2-1, SA)
2003 WCSF v. LAL (2-1, SA)
2003 1st Round v. PNX (2-1, SA)
2002 WCSF v. LAL (2-1, LAL)
2002 1st Round v. SEA (2-1, SA)
The last time the Spurs were down after 3 games, having started the series at home was the 2001 WCF. The last time the Spurs were down 2-1 having the started the series at home was the 2000 1st Round v. PNX (no Duncan). The only other time the Spurs were down a game after 3 in a series in the Duncan era was the 1998 WCSF series with Utah. For history's sake, that means the Duncan Spurs have been down after 3 games on 3 previous occasions and have lost all 3 series.
But themanurules is right; of the 24 series in which the Spurs have played from 1998 to 2006, this is only the 4th time they've been down after 3 games -- pretty remarkable.

Oh yeah remember when Fred Carter predicted the Lakers would sweep the Pistons. Fred Carter sure was right on that. :rolleyes

Heck with taht roster in 2002, the Lakers should have swept the Pistons. That's what happens when you get four super egos on the same team...not enough room to walk onto the court.
