You're all complaining about the foul against Bowen on Dirk, claiming it wasn't a foul.
How about the play at the end of regulation where the refs gave the Spurs 2 extra shots? First, Duncan goes up for a layup and loses the ball. No Mavs player touched it but the refs called it out on the Mavs. The Spurs inbound and shoot a 3 that doesnt hit the rim. Shot clock buzzer sounds. Refs get together and say it hit the rim and give the Spurs the ball back. One a single Spurs possession 2 awful calls were made in favor of the Spurs.
Oh but I don't see any of you bringing that up. Those are undisputed bad calls. Good job, crybabies.

There were questionable calls throughout the game for both teams. Fans should realize that missed or poor calls are just a part of the game.

Two games pretty much decided by bad calls.
1) Dirk steps on Duncan's foot and Tim "fouls" out
2) Phantom fould on Bruce Bowen to tie up the game and send it to OT
I may be a little biased, but Charles Barkley isn't. The first comments he made post-game were about the horrible officiating. Unfortunately, I think the execs at TNT gave him a steaming cup of STFU, because he never said another word about it.
This series is just as easily 3-1 Spurs.

Bad calls are a part of the game, but they should be less frequent in the Playoffs because there should be less calls. The refs are trying to call everything out there, and that fucks up the game more than anything. It's not about bias.

I don't have a problem with bad calls that are mistakes. What I have a problem with is when it is so blatantly intentional that they even quit trying to fake it.

That was a BAD call, but it was immediately erased by a bogus make-up call: an offensive foul on Duncan. You're right, that sequence helped the Spurs out big time. Thanks, refs.

I have to go back and look, but wasn't .00052822 seconds later a make-up call made by a bogus foul on Parker? If that's the case, then the Mavs basically got 2 free throws for a 24 second violation.
That's fair and consistent. :tu

I just say, let the players decide the outcome of a game. It's depressing to watch such a good game, only to have some 80 yr old ref, give Dirk a "gift" at the end.
The Mavs won fair and square in OT, but the game should never have gone to OT.

Looked like the ball went out off of Damp's head on that one, and I could have sworn I heard a double hit on the shot (rim + backboard), but I wouldn't have had a problem with those calls going the other way. Either way, it was immediately made up with a BS moving pick call on Duncan (which was followed a bit later by Dampier pushing a Spur about 5 feet out of the play on a moving pick that wasn't called).
But it isn't just the Spurs getting screwed up calls. I normally watch 9 out of every 10 playoff games no matter whos playing. After the first couple games in in the first round I quit and just watched the Spurs. The officiating SUCKS in every game. But it does seem more apparent in this Spurs/Mavs series.

As a Mav's fan for the past 5 years (years in which the Spurs owned the Mavericks) I have been on the other side of this fence. I am actually pissed off that the refs have stolen the Mav's victory spotlight. The Spurs have enjoyed getting the questionable calls for years and now the tables have turned and you spurs fans can now feel the pain.
2 observations that will never be mentioned here:
1. Bruce Bowen could be called for 15 fouls a game. He plays tough D, but gets the benefit of the doubt on a lot of close calls (and some obvious calls) because he is labled "defensive specialist".
2. Every Spurs fan on this board is simply following their leader Tim Duncan. Whining over every call. He is an amazing player, but even more amazing is the fact that he NEVER fouls anybody....according to him.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of your summer. The karma has come back to bite you and I am glad it is the Mavs that get the benefit.
***Before you write the obligatory "Go away, shut the f*ck up and get off our forum" BS, just remember how many of you or your friends blasted mavs fans on their own boards when you were kicking our asses the last 3 years***

As a student of history, Dallas teams seem to get calls at key times :)
"Staubach's desperation toss and Pearson's contortionist catch — the ball wound up lodged snugly between his right elbow and right hip — shocked and angered the Vikings. They argued vehemently that Pearson had been guilty of offensive pass interference because, they said, he pushed Nate Wright, the defender, out of the way so he could catch the ball. But they lost the argument . . .
Tarkenton and the offense came back on the field after the kickoff. Tarkenton was sacked twice. Each time, the quarterback rose and raced after an official, to protest the lack of an offensive interference call against Pearson. This further incensed the spectators and a barrage of bottles, cans, Thermos jugs and other items came flying from the right-field bleachers."
From the Snopes article: http://www.snopes.com/sports/football/tarkenton.asp

The mods here will edit your posts and your bio to make you look like a Spurs fan. This one of the lamest messageboards on the internet. Thats why you get so many trolls. You deserve it.
That's not true. We have many honorable and highly respected members here who are fans of other teams. They belong to one of the classiest message boards on the internet (THE classiest basketball message board I have seen...and I've seen hundreds). The "mods" do not edit posts unless you break the rules. It's lame and cowardly to claim to be something you're not and would never deserve to be, though. If you want respect, you have to give a little. Come into someone else's forum with guns blazing and you can bet we'll shoot back.

It's the loser's lament. Fucking hilarious.
three rings, losers. losing this series doesn't make the spurs perennial losers like the mavs have been. we have what you are playing for three times over. if you win this series good luck the rest of the way, you will need it. no matter how many times you try, insulting the fact that the spurs have three rings already will never make any sense outside of your own small mind.

How often do you see our players whine after every call? probably 2 or 3 times a game.
Ginobli? after every single call
Bowen? after every single call
Duncan? after every single call (but brushed it off last night, this is what we call sportsmanship)
parker? after every other call

While that is an exaggeration, every Spur fan should just admit the truth. The Spurs players do fuss over the officials more than any other team. Good God. There is NO WAY you can quantify any team doing it more than another. I know Timmy does it ... but if you'll also notice that a lot of them also go talk to the ref and have them explain what they did wrong....he's even talked about that...and they've even mic'd it before. Two games pretty much decided by bad calls.
1) Dirk steps on Duncan's foot and Tim "fouls" out
2) Phantom fould on Bruce Bowen to tie up the game and send it to OT

No, they are not; I'd say whining on the court is pretty even across the board (with a couple individuals I can think of being worse than all others put together, neither of whom is a Spur or Mav). The difference is the Spurs leave it on the court; there are teams (and dallas is one of them, whether you admit it or not, whether you like it or not, it has been documented) that are head and shoulders above the average with their whining to the media. And the sad thing is (witness the past three games), IT WORKS. That is what sucks. When it works for you (the Mavs :flypig ) like that, crying like a baby girl :baby to the media...there's no reason to do much of it on the court.

Throw out Cuban and how much whining to the media do the Mavs do?? I'm talking players and coaches. Avery's bearhug defense comment was no worse than anything Pop or Duncan has said as far as trying to make a point about officiating without throwing a tantrum...

It's funny how Mavs fans want to discount Cuban's bitchin' and moaning, yet call the Spurs players whiners and floppers.
Cuban is the biggest bitch of anyone in the league. Who else, other than Rasheed, has been fined as often for transgressions and complaints regarding officiating? Dude does have good suggestions, but they are often tainted because of his reputation as a crybaby.
While the Mavs have played superbly and hit big shots, theres' no doubt they have benefited greatly from "bogus" calls from the officials - many of which have been well documented. Have the Mavs had some bad calls against them too? Of course. However in the Spurs case, it's not just those bogus calls themselves, but the TIMING of those calls. Over the past two games the calls against Tim, Bruce and Manu produced disasterous results and have swung the tide during the final minutes of the game.
I'm sure all of us want two things from the officials.
1. Call the game consistently and according to the rules.
2. Allow the players - not the officials - to decide the game during crucial junctures.
