USC @ Arkansas in September will be on ESPN and I have questions for you.
1. Will you watch it?
2. Who will you root for and why? "I don't care who wins" isn't an answer!
3. USC has a 13 point spread, will they cover it?
4. Who wins by what score?

USC, their true fans are for the most part classy
USC last year stole Arkansas' team flag, tosses it around the stadium and showed it off on the big screen while chanting "Arkansas sucks."
What's classy about that? Lmao.

Well, consider the alternative. :lol
Besides, never heard any of that.

I don't think the Trojans will be covering this spread...
1. Will you watch it?
--Probably.
2. Who will you root for and why? "I don't care who wins" isn't an answer!
--Hogs, because cheering for USC is like rooting for the IRS (or the Yankees)
3. USC has a 13 point spread, will they cover it?
--Sure, even in Fayetteville. It won't be the 50+ point ass-pounding Arkansas took last season in LA though.
4. Who wins by what score?
--Trojans 41, Razorbacks 21.

I'll be watching it. I dont care who wins as long as I get the cover whichever way I decide to play it.
By the way, what's your take on Nutt's hiring of a high school coach for his offensive coordinator?
Mr Dio
05-17-2006, 09:45 AM
Does it have anything to do with a recruit the Hogs were going after?

Dont think so. Malzahn won a couple or three state championships with two different high schools programs. Loves the passing game and no huddle offense.

I don't watch any other football games during the college season besides UT games, period. So, nothing personal but I won't be watching usc/arkansas, although if given a preference on outcome I would love to see those usc pukes lose, I hate that whole 'socal' attitude thing. Hook'em!

Gus is a coaching legend in Arkansas already. He's only in his 30s but has simply had dominating Springdale teams no matter what talent he has had.
He developed a no-huddle offense, an array of pass plays and run plays and made his high school teams you're not supposed to learn til college.
He could motivate a turtle to leave his shell, he's a very inspiring coach and knows how to give a speech.
Honestly I don't think we will have him for too many years before he gets a team of his own.
But of course he has to prove it first. :)

No. Arkansas tries all the top guys in the country as any major school does. They usually sign with the popular teams though like ND, OSU etc..

So this is the head coach of the Springdale team that Ark got more than 1 recruit in a package deal if Ark signed their head coach? Under the table of course, what college would admit to such a thing?
Had he ever coached a major college team before in any capacity?

No experience whatsoever.
His signing was before Mustain or his top reciever signed. I'm sure those 2 studs made the final decision though seeing their HS coach leave for Arkansas.
The reason he has hype is because you never see a no-huddle offensive arsenal like he made in High School football. It's just unreal the plays he owned every school in Arkansas with. He will have his own team in a few years is my bet.
Just like we couldn't keep John Thompson.. one of the best defensive coaches in the league. He went to Florida a few years back after we went 9-3.

So the world's largest outdoor festival is going on, called Riverfest on the Arkansas River in LR and NLR, Train, Lifehouse and others are playing.. and I saw something amazing.
Some drunk dude from Texas, wearing a Horns hat started yelling "The next motherfucker that downs my Horns will get their ass beat." Needless to say he drew a crowd of folks in red, and took off running. Some dudes caught him and made him yell GO HOGS or they would throw him in the river. I witnessed all of this.
So in conclusion, Texas, as well as Arkansas, have some pretty seriously ignorant fans.

USC to the Holiday, Ark to the Cotton.

Arkansas has 12 games as well.
And fyi, if USC goes into the Hill without concern or worry they will get their ass beat. Word from the team is the guys are taking this game as if it's a Texas game.
(whenever arkansas plays texas its like a NT game for arkansas, dunno why, maybe cause of the old swc and some heartbreaking losses, but people here seem to hate texas with as much passion as oklahoma)

Okay, I'll upgrade both your teams to 8-4, but stick with the Holiday and Cotton predictions.
johngateswhiteley, you just gave up too much on the offensive end to be thinking about 11-1 or 12-0... your defense was average at best to begin with, I don't see it jumping to elite level just out of nowhere. Booty and/or Sanchez may come in and do a good job at QB, but you are trying to replace two stud RBs with.... ?
brutalis, out of the SEC, 8-4 and the Cotton would be pretty respectable. It appears your homer glasses blind your vision if you think the Hogs are going to be this year's version of '04 Auburn.
Brutalis
07-24-2006, 11:58 PM
8-4 is respectable. especially in the SEC. and i have not said shit about being the 04 tigers. simply put, anything less that 8 or more wins is a huge failure.

i am well aware of big 12 football and t.u. and Arkansas. not only did i go to A&M my freshman year but my sister went to A&M and my dad went to A&M. been going to all the home games since i was about 10....and still do.
...but USC is too good. there is not shame in losing to them.

it will be running back by committee, and there are some great backs coming in. not to mention good rb's already at the program. while the receiving corps will be tops in the country and the defense much improved.
...if SC had all those tough games on the road i would agree with you. but they don't and i don't see them losing to ARK and Nebraska.

I didn't assume anything. I usually only skim over the posts and see if anthing is worth adding some nonsense bs to. I never assumed you didnt go to USC.. I had no way of knowing if you did or not since I never read anything saying one or the other. You could be an alumni and a bandwagon fan as well. As for my posts... some are just goofy shit but it is an extreme stretch to say all of my posts thus far are moronic. Some are insightful and some are just goofy bs or smack. Thus is the nature of online bs forums. Especially a sports forum in mid July when nothing is going on but baseball. Not much insight or new perspective to add this time of year since college FB and NFL are barely getting ready to rev up while anything basketball related is dormant for another few months. All in all it's just good fun - I have nothing against you since I don't know you. Just smack talk.

1. your posts in this college forum on the top three threads have been moronic, imo
2. i enjoy smack just as much as anyone else

...fyi, i only respond sharply to those that, imo, have been obnoxious, short-sided, or cannot read. and if it be the latter, i should be a bigger man and help the poster learn how to read...it's just so tiresome.
fyia, this forum is actually a bit of an experiment for me. i post on another site (my regular forum) and my personality is much more as i am in real life. this has been interesting to say the least....i think the only things i have posted with pure sincerity is the "ticket 760 lineup" thread i started in the club. but that is for many other reasons that cannot be discussed in this forum, much to do with personal experiences.....and even then, i don't mean all of it.

Hard to earn an MBA from Dartmouth if you don't know how to read. Now you are making the major assumption.
I don't take this seriously. If you do, great for you. I find it a rather shameful avenue to rile people up over meaningless conversation. But, like the popularity of reality television reveals, sometimes the shameful avenues of cheap entertainment are hard to leave alone. I find your time spent on numerous forums as a bad sign that you may require psychological help. I don't know for sure, but it may be a problem. :spin

Ask me how Arkansas got it's MLB like baseball field. Ask me how we got an indoor, outdoor, and turf stadiums for football practices. Ask me how, UA has the best track stadium in the country. Or about our 1.4 million dollar weight rooms. I could go on...
Wal-Mart. They're from Arkansas, they love Arkansas, they love the Hogs.
Tyson Chicken. Same as above.
They paid for it all. The stadium expansion, the multimillion dollar media screen, the list goes on.
Our new QBs coach is Alex Wood, who has plenty of NFL experience. Gus Malzahn already has wrote a book on his offensive schemes, of course not giving the goods away and shows plenty of promise, also was offered HC jobs at several small D-1 schools reported. If HDN screws up this year. He will be bought out and Butch Davis, good friends of Frank Broyles, will more than likely be in.
