Spurs still have a young core that has been around the block and won titles. Mavs are talented but the team to really be afraid of in the near future is not Dallas as much as Phoenix when they have all the playas back in line.

I was thinking about that this morning. They have their int'l farm team (should be able to find 1 or 2 regular rotation players out of those 5), eventually, with Scola and Javtokas ready to join the league this year, they should be able to revisit the Barry for Smith trade this summer, they'll have Mohammed in the free agent market with the potential for a sign and trade deal, and they'll have their MLE. This team has already targeted an overhaul of the supporting cast this summer. Going forward you have the best talent evaluation staff in the business. Your nucleus consists of the best post player in the game (age 30), one of the top points in the game (age 24) and one of the best wings in the game (age 28).
