...is a luxury the Spurs can no longer afford to waste.

Game 5, win or go home. Spurs need their best players on the floor more than 20-ish minutes.

Manu's got to stay on Jason Terry who played over 50 minutes in game 4.

Well, they do have to play Friday and Sunday, so they need to get some rest.

Ducks has his own language. You don't get a decoder ring till you have at least 500 posts.

does it really matter who gets started and who doesn't?

doesnt all that matter boil down to the minutes played? barry started the other night and played half as much time as ginobili who came off the bench.

Starters get more minutes, plus starting Manu might spark the Spurs offense and defense enough to demoralize Dallas early. They are, after all, young and haven't had experience closing out such a though series.

Manu's had his 2 best games in this series coming off the bench. Do you really want to fuck with that?

And starters don't nessecarily get more minutes.

If it keeps Manu on Terry, hell Yes. No sense in saving Manu for a rainy day. It's win or stay home.

as long as Manu plays well, it doesn't matter much if he's coming off the bench

I want Manu to play at least 36 minutes. It is do or die at this stage. If he doesn't get into the game until the 6 minute mark, that means he would have to play 36 out of the 42 remaining minutes of the game. You would be killing him, with almost no breathers.

I have covered this issue ad nauseum in the past, but logic doesn't work in this board.

Sometimes it's hard for a coach to guage how long to play the starters, be it Horry, Oberto, Barry, or anyone else. So, many times Manu will not play starters minutes, the last game being an example. If the Spurs lose tonight, I want Parker, Manu, and Tim to have a majority of the minutes.

manu is not effective playing over 35 mintutes a game

he needs to play 30
his body can not take more then that

Jason Terry played 50-something minutes in Game 4. How do you think he's gonna feel if he plays over 40 tonight? Besides, who would you rather have on the floor, Manu at 80% or NVX at 100%?

manu needs to play
hopefully it will be a blowout in spurs favor and they can rest in the 2 half

I want manu on the court
mike or barry MUST get hot tonight

The authority on the matter... great!

Manu's minutes, 7 games, last year Finals vs Detroit:

Game 1: 39
Game 2: 32
Game 3: 29
Game 4: 32
Game 5: 44
Game 6: 41
Game 7: 35

Avg. for the series: 36 minutes.

But, hey... these are just facts, so don't let them get in your way!

Manu needs to bring it from the start instead of late in the game.

I agree with bring Manu off the bench, I think it works.

But what I don't agree with his not starting him for the 2nd half. Once the game starts, you just play your best players.

Just because he doesn't start the 1st quarter doesn't mean he shouldn't start the 3rd.

Pop wanted him for all of the 4th. Unfortunately, the refs didn't.
