I watched the game on TNT today (tivo-ed it). Marv Albert said Van Exel is retiring after this season.

Am I the only one that didn't know that?

Actually, he retired a couple of years ago. He just still gets a paycheck.

Van Exel did mention in the playoffs that this will be his last season.

who is this Van Exel you speak of?

I am not a NVE fan necessarily. I am a Popovich fan. I know that he wants to win more than anything else, for the team, for you, for me. If he plays NVE, he does it because he has confidence in him. I'd like to see Nick hit 4 or 5 threes in a game to shut everyone up. He is experienced and, like Pop, I believe he will still show us in a game why Pop signed him. He has made some shots that are comparable to Dirk's. I've seen them, right here from my living room.

Have faith. Too many of you guys are serious doubters who claim to know more than our team's leaders. Then when we win, as we are doing now, you completely change your tunes. Some of you are truly fickle.

another uninfomred stupid comment from elpimpo, guess we shouldn't be surprised.

Van Exel's defense, the way he ran the team was fantastic last night.

He was better than Tony Parker.

But of course, Turnover Beno was much better with that pussified attempt at drawing a foul at the end of the second....

Van Excel and Finley were a package deal. Pop knew what he was doing. Unfortunately he still has more faith in NVE than Beno but that hasn't hurt us yet.

So you did missed Van Exel playing well and Beno failing to even catch the ball, let alone get it past half court now?

Oh yeah, Daniels didn't touch Beno at all though, not even a little bit.

Get real T Park, NVE sucks ass.

Thank god he is retiring.

Last night he didn't.

But of course, you couldn';t see that through the red in your eyes.

uhhhh...TPark

Beno played all of 19 seconds last night.

If you want to compare that with Van Excels 14+ minutes and 2-2-1 Beno smackdown then feel free to continue but at least have the honesty to admit that the sample on one side is pretty small.

If I had to give either one of them a chance to hit a game winner? NVE would get it. He's clutch, and no he hasn't been great for us, BUT HE'S OLD. And he did play well last night, he missed one shot-BIG WHOOP. I would have rather him played than Tony. He choked.

?

Van X played great last night with Tony out. He didn't score, except for that nice crossover, but he ran the offense well and didn't make stupid decisions.

In addition, what NVE actually did for the offense was space the floor better. The Mavs stayed out on Nick, whereas with TP, they sagged more since his shot was not on. Timmy had less room in the lane to make his move across the lane on Dampier with TP in there...for example.

T Park

his defense was also quite good too.

Man, had Van Exel done that, you guys wouldve had 50 threads just ripping his ass.

Guess it is true what Sparky says about SA and their love for the white boys.

NVE makes the worst decisions, it's as if he never played in the NBA before, yet he's a veteran.

I love how the guy dribbles to half court, stops and picks up his dribble with one foot over and the other behind the half court line, and gets trapped like a moron. He always does shit that can be avoided so easily, and he looks like he's had too much caffeine. He's always shaking for no reason and his passes to TD such.

CosmicCowboy
05-20-2006, 08:20 PM
:lmao

TPark, I am no Beno booster but 19 seconds is not a reasonable sample. I could find 19 seconds of Duncans game last night that would justify you screaming for a trade for Darko straight up.

T Park

that 19 seconds included a wussy turn away from contact and Daniels stealing the ball and damn near putting them up 9.

I love how Beno Udrih now thinks every defender is Lindsey Hunter and can't be reliable anymore. AKA Houston game, the last time he was counted on with big minutes.

It has been known for some time that Nick was planning to retire after this season. His finest assist as a Spur will always be helping to bring Finley here- which he definitely did do.

Last night he did a great job of running the offense and worked really hard on defense. Good game from Nick.

As for Beno- it was really nice of you to volunteer to keep Nazr company in the doghouse.

NVE has sucked quite a bit in playoffs except for this game 6.

loved it when he caught the ball right by the corner, almost out of bounds, then brought the ball around by palming it.

Van Exel was by far the best point guard on the Spurs last night. He ran the offense masterfully and was good on D.

:lol @ the Beno apologists. His greatest flaw is he can't bring the ball up the court without turning it over. What does he do in his 2.5 seconds of offense?

Turn it over in the backcourt.

Again.

It was a huge sag.

Basketball fundamentals, when someone is passing the ball to you from out-of-bounds and is ready to commit, you come toward the ball, Beno waited for the ball and almost got it stolen. NVE sucks.

Bring back Speedy!!

This off season we'll see...I also like Speedy, and he had a good season.
It's no time for talk about "market"...but let just say we have possible trade assets that N.O. could like more than all other teams, 'cause of they lack of big men...(and that theyy also have other players we don't dislike...and some first choice in the draft). So if NVE retires...something could move in this direction!

If we get Claxton I will be very happy, because he is a good player.

Just following your lead T_Park: Beno could draw foul from Daniels, get 2 FTA and put Spurs to 4 behind.
Since he didn't do either are your (and mine) assumptions meaningless. It is just sad, that you can't distinguish between fact and fiction, and that you use fiction to bash Beno. But hey, that is just something mentally unbalanced persons (known also as haters - they call themselves fans) do.
