Cleveland doesn't have a chance. Pistons have been struggling for the past 4 games....they're due for a breakout. Lebron will be awesome as usual, but I don't think it'll be enough this time.

With Hughes back, I expect this game to look like Games 1 and 2 of this series...complete blowouts by the Pistons :)

I don't see this as being much of a contest after the half. Like 1P1 says, Pistons have been in a bit of mini-slump over the past few games, but they'll pop out of it this afternoon and send Lebron and company home.

Detroit is up 21-15 after the first quarter. The Pistons are not playing well offensively; too many turnovers and not taking advantage of mismatches. As usual, they can't rebound worth a damn. Defense is switching too much, and Ben Wallace isn't able to keep anybody out of the paint.

I think it's pointless to continue to complain about the officiating in the playoffs. It's just bad...

Bob Lanier
05-21-2006, 03:27 PM
The officials haven't sucked the brains out of this team, or made McDyess roll out the carpet for anyone coming down the lane, or made Ben Wallace look like he's 45 years old.

Sure, they can't get a simple goaltending call right, and Sheed's getting hacked on every possession and not getting calls, and LePushoff is doing what he does. Still, that's a couple of points. The Pistons own mistakes are what's keeping them from being up 15 right now.

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927
05-21-2006, 03:30 PM
It worries me when the start missing the easy call, like the obvious offensive goaltend...

Bob Lanier
05-21-2006, 03:34 PM
Now I'm getting worried - Mike Breen and Hubie Brown are criticising the officials.

More missed free throws. :madrun

1Parker1
05-21-2006, 03:47 PM
Aside from that obvious goal-tending call, I actually thought most of the calls were pretty fair this game.

Pistons are just turning the ball over too much and missing their FT's. I'm surprised by the way the Cavs managed to weather the first quarter storm by the Pistons, and are down only 2 going into halftime. The regular season Pistons will show up in the second half. No one outside of James and Hughes is really playing all that well for the Cavs.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Damon Jones has got to be one of the most useless, Overated role player.

James 21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists at half. :wow

IF he miraculously leads the Cavs to a win today, or even managed to help keep it close until the final seconds, I will proclaim myself as a "Witness" :lol

You must be nervous Detroit fans.
It's seems like a close game. And rest of the Cavs are not playing well. 0/5 3pt ? wow they must hit some.

Is Detroits team concentrated on the other Cavs players and letting LeBron do what he does? And how they are defending the 3pt line?

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927
05-21-2006, 03:53 PM
Murray, Gooden, Jones, Snow and Marshall are a combined 0-12 and Hughes' only basket shouldn't have counted(1-16)...

Contested shot - brick. Uncontested shot - brick. Uncontested shot - brick. Dribble dribble dribble brick.

At least the Cavs aren't in the penalty yet; then they could just hack the entire team.

Ben Wallace doesn't even try to block shots anymore. Teams that play the Pistons know that they've got an open lane to the basket as soon as they break down Billups or Prince off the dribble.

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927
05-21-2006, 04:14 PM
The thing that is the most frustrating is the Cavs really aren't doing much on the defensive end. The Pistons are making them look like the Spurs...

:lol Or they really, really want to look like the Spurs. Both teams are missing FT's, however.

Even though the score is still close, and the Pistons are playing average, I still cannot bring myself to believe that the Cavs will win this game. I keep expecting the Pistons to go on a run and just pull away.

A low scoring game plays right into the Pistons' hands.

Actually, it's been working towards the Cavs benefit. They held the Pistons to 80 some points when they won 3 straight against them.

Rasheed, Ben, and Billups have to get their game going here. Plus, the Pistons short bench is hurting them right about now.

Prince absolutely cannot pass out of double teams. The baseline trap Pop devised in last year's finals has come into wide use, and Prince hasn't adjusted.

Prince's offense is inconsistent at best and his defense is horrifically overrated.

That's not even to mention his softness on the boards...

8 assists in the third quarter. :wtf We're not the damn Mavericks.

Any new news in Argentinia about Delfino? his atitude about not playing? his desire to stay in Detroit?

I personalyy, along w/ most Piston fans, want him playing. Especially over Evans. My fear is that he's going to get tired of not playing and decide to go to a different team.

So far, he's kept his mouth shut during the playoffs. I don't think there will be any news until the playoffs are over, because this time, at least he is in the playoff roster. But, if after the Finals he is still the 10-12th man in the bench, I expect him to ask Dumars for a trade or playing time.

Yes, I do. But I also think he will now reasses what he is doing on the offensive end. The Pistons D was not the problem in this series, it was lethargic play and the inablility to make semi-open shots. Miami is not a good defensive team. They are big and slow, and Chauncey won't have to deal with Eric Snow as well, so that is a plus. If and when the Pistons were to meet up with Spurs, Pop would severly outcoach Flip, but I think revenge, homecourt, and TD's foot would be enough for the Pistons to overcome that mismatch and win, hopefully.

Tough to say. If anything, people expected the defensive adjustments to be poor. Really, that wasn't the case at all. We held that team to about 16ppg less than their season average.

The problem we had was offense. Largely because Chauncey is in a slump and Rasheed's on a bum ankle. That also lets the D focus on Rip and Tayshaun a bit too much. I liked that he called a ton of post-ups for Tayshaun and Sheed in the last 2 games though. It slows the game down a ton, but both of those guys are very effecient and draw doubles.

We'll see what happens against Miami though.

^^I agree FP22, but I can't help but think that he didn't make adjustments on the offense. IDKY, it just seemed to me like we ran the same plays over and over again. I would've liked to see more of those back door cuts and more plays that would give us easy shots. Not post up plays where you really have to work extremely hard for your shot. I'm still happy tho, we won the game and advance to play the Heat. I love to play against them, they hate us sooo much, it's funny to me.

Good luck Spurs! I know ya'll can do it!
