tlong, that never works out. You should bet with your heart, not you mind. Look at all my success betting on the Redskins over the years....er.....nevermind....carry on. :)

Red Sox in 6.

The Yankees have zero pitching.

I'm torn.

Any other year, I'd be rooting hard for the Red Sox. However, since my team is still in the Playoffs, I'm leaning towards rooting for the Yankees because their pitching doesn't scare me as much. Neither offense can be shut down, but against the Yankees pitchers, I'm much more comfortable with the Astros' ability to knock out a higher score.

T Park

good work curt on shutting up the yankees.

in hindsight, that was a stupid thing to say. especially considering his health. better to call them your daddy and then have everyone praise you if you pitch well. no need to add fuel to one of the biggest fires ever when you're not 100% to begin with.

Yankees hold serve. Pedro needs to be dominant tonight and Damon has to get uncorked, he was awful last night...that is very unusual for him to have 4 ks.

maybe if the nimrod shaved and got a haircut like a normal human being.........

That "nimrod" is perhaps the best leadoff hitter in the game...much better than your Womack. :rolleyes

Damon:

Batting Statistics
NAME G AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS
Johnny Damon 150 621 123 189 35 6 20 296 94 76 71 19 8 .304 .380 .477 .857

Womack:

SEASON STATS | CAREER: BATTING | FIELDING
YEAR G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS
2004 145 553 91 170 22 3 5 38 36 60 26 5 .307 .349 .385 .735

Stats don't lie.

the job of the leadoff hitter is to get on base, steal bases and get in scoring position. so ichiro is of course the best leadoff hitter in the game.

That is up for debate. Damon has increased the scoreboard more than Ichiro.

Ichiro:

Batting Statistics
NAME G AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS
Ichiro Suzuki 161 704 101 262 24 5 8 320 60 49 63 36 11 .372 .414 .455 .869

The leadoff hitter is supposed to score runs...bottom line. Damon has more runs, more RBIs, therefore he helps the team win by adding to the score more than Ichiro. Damon is better.

That is ridiculous! Ichiro can't help it if his teammates suck. It's not his fault that the guys in the lineup behind him can't drive him in. Ichiro is far and away the best leadoff hitter in the game.

Is there a way to find out who's been placing their bets on what? Or can only mods do that?

EDIT: oh, duh. Click on the outcome in the betting table.

2nd EDIT: can someone explain how the odds are made? F'instance, in this bet the ratio of Sox/Yankee dollars is 1.53, but the odds ratio is only 1.3. Does the "house" take a cut of the total amount bet?

Kori Ellis
10-13-2004, 11:14 PM
The odd ratio is the actual odds at the time we set up the thread. The odds can't fluctuate by the amounts bet like in real life. They are just set odds.

Although it is a team effort, but as long as you got Joe Torre and Mariano Rivera, The Bronx Bombers are very tough to beat.
I should have bet more on Yankees. On the next one w/ the World Series, I'll place a lot more that's for sure.
O' How sweep it is, if they win tonight...
