View Full Version : It took a Spur to beat the Spurs !

Congrats Dallas. The balls and the calls bounced your way the entire series. That is what it takes to beat the Spurs. But remember. What comes around goes around.
I think as Spurs fans we shouldn't be to upset. I mean for one the head coach for Dallas is a Spur through and through. The way he reflected on his time in San Antonio in the post game press conference I thought the man was going to start crying like a baby. This is no doubt an audition to be the next head coach for the San Antonio Spurs.
Also the officiating played a huge part in this series. Pop and the Spurs know it as do Avery and the mavs. Barkley said it best when he said the officiating in this series sucked. And Skip Bayless (Cold Pizza) pretty much had the same thoughts. Even people who I have talked to who don't like either team said the Spurs got hosed plenty of times when it counted. The last possession in regulation of game 7 was indicative of this entire series. Phantom call on Dirk sends him to the line to complete a 3 point play. And then Duncan gets hammered and it is a no call and we have overtime.
Before this series started I said that if the Spurs couldn't beat the mavs I would pull for the other Texas team in Dallas. But after the way the Mavs players, fans and owner acted this series I think it is safe to say that I will be pulling for Detroit. The funny thing is that the only person who acted somewhat civilized and respectful was Avery, a Spur at heart.
Good Luck the rest of the way mavs fans.

Very original. I am bitter so I will now root for the Pistons. Isn't there an OFFICIAL SORE LOSER thread somewhere?

The calls went our way the whole series???? Do all Spurs fans believe this?? In my opinion, after all 7 games, the calls were equal.
Phantom call on Dirk?? Wow, ok. Don't know what replays you were watching.

I don't like AJ anymore. I hope he cries.

The calls favored us tonight. Bruce's foul call on Dirk was BS in game 4, but Dallas fought through it when they got the short end of the stick from the refs tonight and therefore I can't complain any more about the calls against us.

Barkley said it best when he said the officiating in this series sucked. And Skip Bayless (Cold Pizza) pretty much had the same thoughts.
Whats funny is that Barkley said the refs sucked, he didn't say in favor of whom. Both teams got 'hosed' this series.
Quite the sore loser thread.

Your response is that of a typical mavs fan. Obviously what I wrote went way over your head so let me repeat and bold it our for you.
"Before this series started I said that if the Spurs couldn't beat the mavs I would pull for the other Texas team in Dallas. But after the way the Mavs players, fans and owner acted this series I think it is safe to say that I will be pulling for Detroit."
It is the way you and your fellow fans and players behave that made my decision for me. I think maybe the mavs and their fans can learn a little something about winning with class from the Spurs. The way you guys celebrated after beating us was hilarious. Had the Spurs won it would have been just another series. I couldn't possibly imagine the Spurs celebrating a second round matchup the way the mavs did. Then again, the mavs aren't accustom to winning on a regular basis come playoff time.

He is just a sore loser, he will get over it eventually. It's funny he doesn't mention the fact that duncan uses an illegal hand move, it's against the rules to swipe the defenders hands away like duncan does every time.
You didn't see Dirk complaining after Tony had hold of his shirt on the last play of game 5, or when Manu barreled over Howard in game 6.
Just get over yourself, you make the entire spurs population look like little whiny sore losers.

I guess you would know what you are talking about when it comes to making people look bad. Look at your owner. It is no wonder you mavs fans act the way you do.

Oh PLEASE don't anyone else blame it on that call...It was just a bad foul..Manu clearly swept his arms and it was clearly a foul. It was amazing that Dirk was still able to get enough on the ball that it bounced in. If they hadn't called that foul it would have been replayed thousands of times today and the world would agree that the Mavs got robbed...
nut up Spurs fans...

That was clearly a foul. No excuses. The better team always wins in a 7 game series. Drop it already and give the Mavs their props.

In games 3 and 4? Yes.
Last night, the game was called pretty fairly -- even with Bavetta and Javee in there. Amazing.

It's beyond me that ANYBODY can claim that wasn't a foul...
The picture above doesn't really do the foul justice...he RIPPED Dirk's hand off the ball...hard enough to cause him to lose his balance...and almost hard enough to keep the ball from trickling over the lip of the rim...
Seriously, WTF??
Was Duncan fouled?? Probably so...but there was no call, probably because it was such a scramble...had Duncan not fumbled the ball first, it might've been called.
Saying that Dirk DIDN'T get fouled is beyond ridiculous... :rolleyes

Ironic that a Dallas fan is "asking" where the Sore Loser Thread is, should have had their snail-mail forwarded there the past six or so years.
:lol
Good luck in the WCF and hopefully NBA Finals.

Fuck Avery, he is the enemy now.
The amount of love shown by this city for the Whiny General when he was out in the press crying for the calls early in the series and getting them (Dirk shooting more FTs than the whole Spurs team comes to mind) makes me sick.
Fuck him.

I was disliking AJ, until he started praising the Spurs last night.
He deserved this win. I still can't believe how he's changed these Mavs in one year.

All teams have some fans that are idiotic. I went to Game 5 in San Antonio and expected to be razzed the entire game, it was fun. Only while walking to the car did we encounter some morons who were beyond drunk and targeting Mavs fans. Two hicks shouting so vociferously that spit flies out of their mouth into my face is not what I would call civil. A fifty something year old woman banging my s.o.'s head with her plastic cheer sticks is not civil. The way some of the Spurs fans celebrated, it was not *just another game* for them. Face it, all teams have idiotic morons among the crowd of regulars.
