Detriot needs to rediscover their mojo, or the Mavs will be winning a ring soon.

No Dan Crawford, at least. Hopefully no Mauer, Javie, or Rush. Bavetta's due, and as horrible as he was in Game 2, I think he'd be in favor of the longer series. Or, he could just be completely senile.
105-99 Pistons.

Over...
Hopefully the score and not the series...

Mavs will beat Miami? ROFL. You saw the trouble they had with Duncan. They will have the same trouble with Shaq and won't have an answer for wade. It doesn't matter who comes out of the East, the only trophy the Mavs can hope to win this season is the WC trophy. But go Pistons. The Finals will be a little more one-sided that way. I don't want Riley getting 5 rings before Pop.

Bob Delaney and Bernie Fryer are solid refs.
Pistons not off to a great start. Still too much isolation, and bad spacing.
And the defense - :shootme

It's killer watchin' them miss shot after shot. Already down by 8 in the first.

At least they've sort of started running offensive plays with a sense of purpose.
They're all Flip's beloved jumpshots, and they're missing, but at least they're open.
Zone defense. :rolleyes

I wonder in a game of this magnitude if you should just leave him in and take your chances that he won't foul out.
Nice run at the end of the quarter.

My point is, when Billups was in he was dribbling around and calling plays that resulted in either fadeaway jumpshots or turnovers in the teeth of the Miami defense. Lindsey is doing twice the job setting up his teammates, getting Rip and Sheed the ball in situations where they can score. The only person who was scoring with Chauncey in the game was Tayshaun Prince, on some lucky shots that went in off of isos and broken plays.

You can't just pin it all on CB. Hamilton settled down halfway thru the Q and stopped turning the ball over.

I can't pin it all on Chauncey, that's true. People missed shots and fumbled passes. But 3 of Rip's turnovers were Chauncey's fault - he was getting force-fed the ball in between 3-4 Miami defenders, where he could either turn it over or get blocked. Chauncey was calling curls for Rasheed and McDyess to catch-and-shoot a fadeaway from the top of the key.
When Lindsey came into the game at point guard, he started getting his teammates the ball in positions where they could create higher-percentage shots. The spacing got a lot better. There started to be some measure of ball movement. Rip and Dice got layups; Sheed actually got the ball on the block when he was fronted.
It's too bad Lindsey has 3 fouls of his own, or I'd ride him to the finish.

... and one taste of the lead and they start taking bad shots again.
Why the hell are they double-teaming O'Neal? Let Davis foul out trying to guard him one on one if they have to. The overrotation is just picking up fouls on more important players.

05-29-2006, 09:17 PM
I want to have Dale Davis's children. He's got to be the first Piston ever to lay Wade out on the floor without any flopping on Wade's part.
Edit: there's a game blog in the main forum? :drunk

Sheed picks up his fifth foul on a "moving screen". Bullshit. A player like Duncan or Diaw can take about three steps riding the man out of the way, and Sheed, standing still, picks up his fifth on a rub screen?
Bullshit. Absolute bullshit.
Horry For 3!
05-29-2006, 09:36 PM
Damn, Wade got fouled big time on that 3 point shot, didn't get the call but still made it
Bob Lanier
05-29-2006, 09:45 PM
OK, it's over. Billups is making bad decisions again and neither Hamilton nor Prince nor this dumbass zone they're running can stop Wade without fouls, real or not.
The refs completely took away any momentum the Pistons had with that fifth on Rasheed. That's no excuse for the complete mental breakdown by Flip and Chauncey, but it's the truth.
Screw this team. I can live with the Mavs winning a title. Maybe Cuban will die of alcohol poisoning during the celebration and all will be right with the world.
Horry For 3!

Soon it will just be one fluke championship in two decades of mediocrity. Still, that's better than most can hope for.
