Raja Bell didn't look 100%, but he provided an obvious spark and made some great shots early on. He also drew plenty of offensive fouls (some flops, some legit) that helped swing the momentum in the Suns' favor.

Cowards are all the pussy ass Spur's fans still crying over that beat down by Dallas. We probably lost this game, but Dallas will surely win this series. No way does Dallas shoot this badly and and execute this poorly in a must win game in Dallas. Man, it should be kind of embarrassing that the Suns are playing the Mavs much better than the Spurs. Even on defense.

Atleast we as Spurs fans can honestly that we have won our championships fair and square. Nothing was handed to us by officials and bitchass Stern. Since I went through this thread and saw a Mavs fan say that it was one-sided officiating, just thought I would mention that the Mavs attempted one more free throw than the Suns did. According to the Mavs book of fair officiating, that's all it takes. It was called fairly. I actually saw some crap calls against the Suns, and Dirk seriously travels every other time he has the ball, so I don't know why Dallas fans whine, but thats my 2 cents.

Cuban is not losing billions, he has a surplus next year which is why he's lowering the ticket prices and season-ticket prices. There will be game tix available for $2 and my season tix will be a lot less. He wanted to pass on some of the profits to the fans, do a Google search.

Very true. This game, much like all the others we've seen throughout the playoffs, was officiated poorly. But even with that, it wasn't to one team's advantage. Bad calls on both sides. I think most fans can agree that Bennett Salvatore is the worst out there. How that guy has survived for 24 years is beyond me.
The Mavs just didn't show up and deserved to have their asses handed to them. The starting 5 was just atrocious. I wish the Suns had beat them by 50 if they could have. But Dallas is still the better team and still has more talent. It would be a rare sight to see another game like this in this series. Regroup and come out for Thursday night's game.

Mavs lower ticket prices
Dallas Business Journal - February 9, 2006by Dave MooreStaff Writer
Dallas Mavericks tickets for $2?
That's not a typo.
The organization announced Thursday that it will drop the prices on some of its tickets next season, even offering $2 tickets for seats at the American Airlines Center's terrace level at 10 games.
Tickets currently priced at $50 will be lowered to $48, $35 tickets will cost $33, $19 tickets will go down to $18 and $10 tickets will drop to $9.
At 10 pre-selected games fans will be able to purchase terrace level tickets for $2, $10, $20 and $32, Mavs owner Mark Cuban said. Lower bowl ticket prices will remain the same.
In an e-mail to the Dallas Business Journal, Cuban wrote that a reduction in player payroll is triggering the reduction.
"I'm anticipating a reduction in payroll next season and want to pass on the savings so more fans can experience the fun of a Mavs game at American Airlines Center," he said in the press release. "My goal is to keep the Dallas Mavericks an exciting and affordable source of entertainment regardless of what your entertainment budget is. With $2 tickets, Mavs games will be more affordable than ever."
A Dallas Mavericks official said that the drop in ticket prices will mean a decrease in revenue for the team, but that crowd attendance hasn't been a problem for the team, which sells out every year.
Season ticket-holders will be able to renew their season tickets at a lower-rate next year, said a Mavericks spokeswoman. Single-ticket sales for the 2006-2007 season will start in late September or early October, she said.

Dirk picked up a quick second foul and even in the slo-mo tonight Doug Collins or maybe it was Kerr talked about how Nash bumped into Dirk first and then tripped up Terry before the quick second on Dirk. A very quick second and Dirk sits out for most of the quarter. Anyway, this is not an excuse to why we lost, it's to point out that such examples matter little unless you're a big whiner. Don't give me this b.s. about Duncan, he had a monstrous series and his sitting out a HALF a quarter is ca-ca unless his sorry team couldn't pick up the slack because they suck.

Am I banned again? I thought I already posted something about the game and how there should be NO bitching about the refs. The refs don't cause Dirk and Terry to play like complete shit. They don't let you have Adrian Fucking Griffin to be your 2nd highest scorer. Refs call what they see, and though it may not always be the right call, they ultimately aren't the reason for your team shooting like shit.

Yeah, the Suns played great because we sucked it up on both ends of the floor and allowed Leandro to gain some confidence, Nash to get within a foot of the basket and fell for Raja's flops. There are no excuses and there are no worries; it's an even series, not like we're down a game and now we play one in our house. I will admit the Suns make me uneasy because they are such a streaky team but it doesn't mean that I don't think we can beat them. They had a great game we didn't bring any game tonight, it won't be the same on Thursday. Since when has Dirk played so horribly and not bounced back? JHo's alright from his scary rolled ankle and will play on Thursday and Raja, who knows?

Kurt Thomas played and was available. He doesn't fit into the team's plans for this series and won't play much anyway. And the Amare excuse isn't even valid as he wasn't on the roster to start the season so they knew they wouldn't have his services for the duration.

I dunno about the rest of Spurs fans, but I'm ok with being called a bandwagon Suns fan. It doesn't bother me. I even had a friend of mine tell me that in person the other day. I'm a basketball fan. I like the game of basketball. So whenever I see some good players, I like them too, even if they're not on my team. I've liked Steve Nash since he played for Dallas (despite what other Spurs fans thought of that) and was always hoping some miracle would happen to get him to SA. I've liked Raja Bell since he played for 2 seconds with San Antonio. I thought we should have kept Barbosa, and last but not least, I've liked Boris Diaw since Tony Parker came over from France and would post on his website (only in French back then) about how he had this buddy Boris who was really good. Not to mention because of the timing schedules and stuff this year, I'm pretty sure I watched more Suns games than I did Spurs games. I really started to like the whole team. It's not really about cheering against Dallas. If Dallas were up against the Nuggets right now, I'd be going for Dallas. That or sitting in the corner in the fetal positiong wondering what the world is coming to.

:blah :blah :blah
If the Suns hit the defensive boards the way they did tonight, they win every game. Simple as that. It's not like they were making every shot they took. They had just one three at halftime. They missed several before catching fire in the third and they missed several layins and open jumpers throughout the game.
Suns didn't play great, but went after loose balls and rebounded.
Sure a few makes here, a few makes there and all that crap, but the facts is, the Mavericks have been feasting off the Suns apathy and carelessness. They've controlled the boards and tonight it was very close to a wash. Without those extra 7-10 possessions, the Mavericks percentage stayed down (rather than balooning thanks to easy putbacks) and the Mavs score stayed low.
Suns also took better care of the ball.
Suns continue to attack the boards and not force the offense, then they will be in better position to maintain their three-quarter leads, unlike games two and three.

Suns played a PHENOMENAL game in comparison to the game the Mavs played. And they shot 54% for the game -- that's not exactly not making their shots...???
Mavs still outrebounded the Suns tonight. Not by a wide margin or anything, but they did again win the 'battle of the boards'. They haven't lost that battle in the playoffs yet.

You're pretty pathetic, it's understandable given the time of year and your team's situation. However, it would be nice if every time I came on the board you didn't run up to address me like a little five year old who wants a lollipop.

Go Suns! I'm glad they won today...I just really like Steve Nash, Raja Bell, Stoudermire, etc...All these players are really great...

I've seen the Suns shoot 65% for a game a half-dozen times. The Suns played very well, but if you think this is the best they can play, you're sorely mistaken. Hell, the Suns totaled seven made threes for this game. I've seen them make seven in a quarter. Suns played well, but they didn't play great, except for the effort factor. They finally cared and finally tried and that was the deciding factor.
As to the rebounds, when both teams starters were in, Dallas held a one rebound lead overall and the offensive rebounds was a wash.
Suns attacked the glass and limited the Mavericks opportunities. If you can pull your had out of the outcomes ass and take a look around at Game 2's and Game 3's play, you'd realize that Dallas didn't shoot well in either game, but really made up ground on the points and percentages department by grabbing offensive rebounds and getting easy tipins and putbacks. That really ballooned your points and percentages and hid the fact you team wasn't playing as well on offense as the score would lead you to believe. IMO, the only real deifference between tonight and the previous nights was Dallas didn't get as many possessions due to the Suns limiting the Mavs second-chance opportunities and their own turnovers.

Offensive rebounds, tipins and putbacks aren't part of a team's offense? Since when?

Please tell me you're not as dumb as you pass yourself off as.
They are offense, but they are secondary offense that is easily controlled by a defensive effort, like transition defense.
All the Suns had to do was try and rebound, rather then just let the ball bounce to able and willing Mavericks who go in for the layup.
You guys are bitching and moaning about shots not falling and I'm here telling you they really haven't been falling for most of this series. That your Mavs have been getting fat off the Suns inability and not on their own ability.
That's what this game came down to. The Suns tried and the Mavericks didn't have the dozen extra possessions to pull away.
Simple as that.

I like how you're kinda being an ass to me for no reason :lol My 'had' is not in the outcomes ass, thankyouverymuch. I actually am not one that says this is the best Phoenix can play...All I said was that in comparison to how shitty the Mavs looked tonight, the Suns were phenomenal.
It's no secret that the Mavs haven't played well/shot well in this series. Those little hustle plays -- offensive rebounds, tip-ins, steals, etc...that's what makes teams good. I don't understand why you're presenting that as a knock on the team -- if they can win while shooting a shitty percentage because they outhustled their opponent -- FANTASTIC. I don't see that as a negative.
If you want to go into all of that....it was the Mavs ability to take advantage of the Suns inabilities in games 2 and 3. How about that? :lol

I agree and my comments aren't as a slight to the Mavericks. They did simply outhustle the Suns. At times, however, the Suns appeared not to even care. Remember, the Mavericks pulled away late in those games. Had Phoenix put any effort into their defensive rebounding or ballcontrol, then this series could be completely different.
You are correct. So far both these teams have been about even in actual basketball play. Where Dallas had an advantage was they were hustling and trying to make plays whereas Phoenix was simply waiting for something to happen. Tonight, Phoenix hustled and made things happen.
That's the difference from this game and the previous two.
This game, the Suns put effort into whatever they did.
It wasn't the missed or made shots, because both teams have been about the same throughout the series. The deciding factor has been effort.
I corrected those who said this game was lost because Dirk and Terry were missing shots. While that's partially true, Dirk got several of his points in this series off putbacks. Take that away and Dirk has been missing a good portion of his perimeter jumpers throughout anyways.
I think you get what I'm saying, just as I get what you're saying.
Effort was the edge in this and the previous games. Made shots were the biproduct.

I do getcha...but just as you're saying this series could be completely different if the Suns would've put forth more effort yadda yadda...Tonights game would've been different if our guys had knocked down some shots. No, that's not the be all, end all as you said. But if you're going to pull out the IF card, it works for and against. Everything changes the game. Maybe if the Mavs had knocked down some shots, they would've hustled more? You never know. That's why I hate going back with the ifs...it gets ridiculous. Phoenix stunned us in the first game, we outhustled them in game 2 and 3, they beat our asses tonight. That's it. No ifs.
Dirk hasn't had a game like this in I don't know how long. It's been 42 games since he's scored under 20. 42 GAMES. Kinda weird to see that kind of performance like that. I would love to see him come out and explode in game 5.

Wasn't trying to play the "If" card.
Everything you say pretty much sums it up. Suns can't depend on the Mavericks missing a few more shots than normal and have to continue to crash the boards and take care of the ball. Meanwhile, the Mavs can't depend on the Suns fourth-quarter carelessness and allow themselves to trail entering the fourth quarter every game. Each team has to put the effort into making plays, not just taking what's given.
The team that does, wins.

Avery just got Ted up.
I can't wait to hear him bitch after this game about the officiating in his whiny ass cajun accent.
He already started: (in regards to Dirk) "Hopefully the next game, he'll do a better job of making harder drives and get to the free-throw line"
Aka, "hopefully the refs will give him about 25-30 FTs so we can win by one next game."
He fails to realize that Bennett Salvatore was trying to give the Mavs the game in the 2nd half, but they shot 42 percent.

You fail to realize that Doug Collins is an idiot who couldn't coach his way out of anything (got Jordan to the second round once before Phil stepped in and they went all the way 6 times)... and Doug was on the first US Olympic Basketball Team to lose the gold-medal game (against Russia in 1972). Basically, his opinion doesn't cout, because (a) that was a quick foul on Dirk, but it was still a legit foul and (b) every time Dirk extends his elbow or lets out a yell when he loses the ball or runs into Tim Duncan's foot and awkwardly falls to the ground, the Suns/Spurs/Grizzlies are getting whistled for the foul.
I think Dirk has personally shot more FTs this season than the Suns have as a team because when they try to drive, they rarely get the calls (aka Devin Harris's "dry hump" defense). I'll be surprised to see if Avery thinks the Suns have found their bear-hug defense by game 5 and the officials will probably agree...

Spurs fans root for the teams that deserve to be there. Not teams that get a pass by the refs. I am sure you have it recorded. The proof is in the pudding. The truth hurts.
I love it!!! :lol
Cuban will give Terry a big ass deal though he wouldn't give Nash one. Then in a few years when Terry's at $20 mil a season Cuban can blame him.
I REALLY doubt Jet will ever see $20M / season...

Technically, being of Hispanic descent means you're from Spain.

However, to most people it seems to mean anyone from a Spanish speaking culture, which always seemed wrong to me.
I doubt many people would consider an African-American who spoke Spanish to be considered "Hispanic"...

Long time no visit.
Last nights game was humiliating as a Mav fan. They didn't show up, didn't even attempt to play any defense, couldnt get their offense going, and were in foul trouble (in my book) at the end of the 1rst half. Dirk... I cant even explain where he was or where his mind was or what he was even doin on the court. JET... for some reason in a series where he should excel, the dude cant get going until the 3rd qt. Stack... every time he comes on the court, I think I get pissed off. He's so greedy with the ball and in this series has been turnover prone. He gets under my skin. Howard - didnt score 20, but becoming more and more injury prone in my book. Incredible for the Mavs team... but sheesh... And BTW, his new mouthpiece is red, white, and blue not the italian flag. He got his braces off finally... guess he figured he needed a new guard. Harris... I dont think it was a fluke in the SA series, he just could outrun everyone but Parker seemed like and in this series, the Suns are a faster team so he's having a hard time finding his flow, I guess.
Overall - it was just a horrible game. I dont waste time whining about the officiating... I have never really just been a big fan of it. I'm sick of ppl using it as an excuse. In the end, if a team feels like the officials are against them, they should be able to overcome that if they want to win the game. Period. No bitching, no whining. What's the point...
In the end - the better team won tonight. PHX came out to win and it showed. So I give Bell credit for knowing his team needed him and showing up. I give PHX cred for just playing better ball last night. This series is still far from over... and I could see it going another 7 games. The better team overall will still win in the end and I'm stickin to my guns, the Mavs will win.

Gotta love Van Horn's stat padding at the end of game 4. Great to see him get some points when the game isn't on the line. Stackhouse angers me on almost every possession. Double teams to him means trying to split it instead of passing to the open player. Drives me nuts. Terry has totally hurt Dallas's rhythm in this series. I can't believe how bad he is playing. Also the refs were bad like said before. All of that leads to the mavs getting blown out. Game 5 is a must win for Dallas now.
Mav fan bitching about refs...

Free throws
Suns 22 attempts, Mavs 23 attempts
Conclusion: Advantage Mavs
Total fouls
Suns 23 fouls, Mavs 22 fouls
Conclusion: Advantage Mavs
As said elsewhere, if the Mavs are getting a lopsided disparity in the two, all of a sudden the refs were bad.
