"It was among the fastest, most efficient production cars ever built. It ran on electricity, produced no emissions and catapulted American technology to the forefront of the automotive industry. The lucky few who drove it never wanted to give it up. So why did General Motors crush its fleet of EV1 electric vehicles in the Arizona desert?"...

When the few suckers that bought one realized the the batteries only lasted about 50,000 miles and cost as much as a new car to replace them.

I loved this gem...

"General Motors made a commitment to the Hummer because they could see that the Hummer would make them money."

It is a little known fact that replacement batteries could have been had for only a few hundred dollars...Most of the EV-1’s were located in LA & owned by celebrities...They worked flawlessly & were prized possessions by the few who were allowed to operate them...

Then one day all of the EV-1’s were all rounded up in true socialist fashion...It seems that they worked too well and the Democratic party was getting worried...Very worried....Who could they blame all of the environmental problems on if GM was actually allowed to make a flawless electric car? :depressed
