View Full Version : Would you guys be interested in Charlie Villanueva?

It seems like Toronto might be looking to trade this guy. I see nothing but upside to him. His salary isn't too bad. He is owed $2.5 for 06/07, $2.7 for 07/08, $3.4 for 08/09, and $4.6 for 09/10. That's about $12 mil for the next four years. I say let them have Rasho. LOL.

OK maybe they won't take Rasho, but we may have something they'd be interested in. Just want your thoughts on him. His stats last year were 13pts and 6.4rbs per game. He has good size in 6-11.

not happennin unless we throw in somethin more interesting then Rasho ( say Nazr). but I doubt it ... Charlie was a steal at the draft and the new raptors GM is a smart one not like the dumbasses before him so I don't believe he will pull the trigger.

Sure, the Raptors would love Manu Ginobili in return.

No offense, but you're a dumbass if you think we could get Charlie without sending either Tony or Manu up there.

If you want to look north of the border, a guy like Morris Peterson is rumored on the block, question is would he fit in and what would it take to get him.

No way in hell Toronto ever trades Charlie, he and Bosh will be there for years to come. In the new NBA you don't need to start a legit center so the raptors can play bosh and villa at the same time.
Right now Toronto is in a bad position, 1st pick in a very weak draft and they want badly to move down! There's no clear cut #1 pick so they're saying they really like Bargnani and it's just a smokescreen to try and get some team hyped on him so they can dump that 1st pick on them. Nobody wants to be the team that drafts the next Skita or Kwame and have to pay them all that jack to sit on the bench.

I don't think Villanueva and Bosh can co-exist. They pretty much play the same position except that Villanueva can play the small forward position. I think the Raptors will go after Aldridge, which would keep Bosh at the power forward position. If I am the Raptors I keep Villanueva, but I was just stating there are reports the Raptors might trade him.

The RAptors selected Rafael Araujo in a couple of Draft Past, so they can like a player like Rasho because is a player like Him

Araujoīs numbers are:

111 Games with 75 Starts
2.9 Points and 3 Rebounds in 12 minutes, not bad for a starter, probably the worst starter of the NBA, and they select him in the #8 of the 2004 Draft

Thankīs god, Colangelo is in Toronto Now, because the last Raptorīs GM looks like Isiah Thomas

the report i read said something to the effect of the Raptors wanting to package him up with their #1 pick this year for someone(s). I don't think we want to part with what it would take to get CV and the #1 overall pick.

Villanueva has a size advantage when he's at SF and he can post up smaller SF's but he doesn't have the agility or mobility to guard said smaller quicker SF's. Bosh does so when the two of them are playing with a C on the floor, ie. Araujo or Woods, they can easily switch defensive assignments (SF Villanueva on the PF, PF Bosh on the SF). They can therefore indeed co-exist on the floor, and with CV able to stay at SF with Bosh occupying PF, there will be room for another big man. Aldridge is the logical choice for them. However, I wouldn't be surprised if TOR tried to trade down (say with the Hornets for their 12th pick, their 2nd-rounder, their 1st-rounder next year, and young PF Brandon Bass) and go for C Patrick Bryant or Cedric Simmons or even Sheldon Williams or Hilton Armstrong with their newly acquired lower 1st-round pick.

The most interesting trade down I've heard for them is dropping down somewhere in the 3-5 range and picking Marcus Williams. They need a point guard.

Well, its not like the Raptors and the Spurs have to trade straight up. A third or fourth team can get involved.

Maybe they would take Rasho for Eric Williams and Araujo, though.

That's a nice deal -- we could clear everything off our cap in a year, or we could hang on to Araujo if he proves he can play for us. :tu

you obviously don't watch much basketball.

Great take. Could you at least give some reasoning?

Villenueva's demeanor is compared to that of Odom. His own coach questioned his intensity on defense...and Kobe dropped 81 on his Raptors. (Don't even blow up with a "kobe scored 81 on the raptors not Villenueva, its a team game...I know, that's just one minor point.)

how does this lottery go? so if there are 15 guys 10 are lottery picks, so teams with the top10 picks have to pick either one of the 10 lottery guys? cant they just go and draft sumone who is not even known?

The lottery is the draft area for all of the teams that didn't make the playoffs (14 teams). You can pick anyone. There are no "lottery picks" until the players are actually drafted, but many would like you to think that they know who will be drafted in the lottery area, and they will CALL them lottery picks before the draft.
