Rebounding machine. But pro career limited to half a season barely averaging a quarter's worth of PT a night. Big enough to play both forward positions. Restricted FA.

I wish. The rebounding is solid but I love his hustle and energy too. He doesn't quit.

We can hope that Houston blows all it's money on guards this summer. It's a damn shame we didn't pick this guy up when I told us to....

Rockets to keep Hayes
By JONATHAN FEIGEN

The Rockets on Tuesday picked up their option on the second year of forward Chuck Hayes' contract.

A rookie out of Kentucky, Hayes, 23, averaged 3.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 40 games last season. The 6-6 power forward averaged 15.8 rebounds per 48 minutes, third among NBA rookies.

"He knows how to play the game," Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson said. "He's defensively sound. He rebounds the ball very well. He's one of those guys that is always where the action is. He has a sense for it. Those are the kinds of guys you really like to have. We always knew we were going to do this."

The move gives the Rockets three power forwards — Hayes, Stromile Swift and Juwan Howard — under contract and makes it even less likely they would select another inside player in the draft June 28.

There should have other players with the same profile (undersized PF and great rebounder ) available this summer :
- In the Draft : Paul Millsap, Leon Powe, Louis Amundson, Kenny Adeleke, Taj Gray, Renaldo Balkman...
- Overseas : like Jack Martinez...
- free agents : like Reggie Evans

He's sort of a player in the malik rose type of mold and I think he won't really be able to fit into the rotation to well here. He seems like he is a sporadic player and the Spurs are looking for consistency.
