I just think it's bullshit for a guy to add to the pain by dunking with 2 seconds left instead of running down the clock and then you fucking asshole classless Mav fans think it's funny? The spurs were still a strong team prior to 1999, they made it to the WCF in 1995 but lost to the rockets and they were also close to getting their back during the "ice age"

where have the mavs been prior to their 26 yrs in the league

Typical classless Mavs. Not suprised in the least.

Agreed. I had a very, very, very tiny inkling to root for the Mavs as reps of the west when the game was winding down. But after that move, which just shows how classless that org has become, i hope Shaq has a slam fest on the Mavs.

And i hope Amare remembers that as the last play of this season.

Well when half of the threads on the board have to do with the mavericks, we are gonna post in them. You act like the spurs have been doing shit forever, up until '99 yall werent doing shit in the league either.

and amare won't do shit next season. He is just another player of the system, he has the lane wide open because of how the suns spread the floor. Every player on your team other than nash didn't do shit before they got their and don't do shit after because it's a team of spot up shooters.

Admit the loss, david stern/refs or whoever you want to blame didn't make the suns get out rebounded in the second half or let the mavs score 40 in the 4th. Suns were the agressor in the first half and got the calls, mavericks dominated the 2nd half. Both sides got shitty fouls called against them, but in the 4th there were very few if any.

Go figure Cuban is holding the trophy in that pic. "I SIGN YOUR PAYCHECKS NOW GIVE ME THE DAMN TROPHY SO MY FUGLY GRILL DOESNT LOOK AS BAD NEXT TO IT"

Watching this classes primadonna Mavs team get beat by Shaq and Wade is going to be fantastic. Cuban's gonna get his heart ripped out on national TV.

They will make a Master Card commerical out of the Mavs season this year.

and it will end with "Getting punk'd out of the Finals: Priceless"

HELLO!! That's what the Suns have missed all season - and inside game. Both Dallas and SA saw how devastating the pick-n-roll was with Amare & Nash last season. Yet this team of "spot up shooters" went six games deep in the WCF's. It's laughable.

A healthy Amare and Center (KT or another) next season and the Suns will be the odds on favorite to win it. Next year might just be the Suns year.

Nash barely made it through the playoffs, his time is limited. Why do you think Cuban let him go, he wanted a 5 year contract when he only had 2-4 good years left in him.

Mavs deserved to win, but Griffin's dunk was completely out-of-line.

Phoenix made it halfway through the Western Conference Finals without Amare Stoudemire, Kurt Thomas, and with Raja Bell limping on one leg. I couldn't be prouder of my Suns team this year, and I'm excitedly looking forward to next year, when the amazing potential frontcourt of Amare, Marion, and Diaw dominates the league. Barring anymore major injuries, of course.

From what i hear the suns might be looking to trade marion because of their abundance of forwards and his big contract. But ill admit just thinking of a healthy amare along with marian and diaw is scary.

Xylus
06-04-2006, 01:23 AM
Marion trade-talk is nothing new. There are rumors that Sarver wants to get rid of Marion so that we can afford to keep Tim Thomas...which would be a monumentally stupid idea, if you ask me. I would keep Marion, sign Diaw long-term, pray for a dominant Amare, and let Tim Thomas sign elsewhere if he wants more money than the Suns can offer. Diaw would play C, Amare at PF, Marion at SF, with Kurt Thomas and James Jones (if he remains a Sun next season) coming off the bench. To me, that doesn't seem like an abundance of forwards, especially for a Suns team that often avoids putting players in strictly defined positions.

That's something I was thinking about throughout the entire series. Even with Amare being 80% of what he was, the suns will be a very formidable opponent for any team. The spurs are going to have their work cut out for them.

mavsfan55 honestly did the mavs really kick the spurs ass, the series went 7 games and from what I remember you guys were up 3 game to 1 on the spurs and we were still able to fight back for a 7th game and had to fight back from a 20 point deficit to have a chance to win the game in regulation, and the spurs just ran out of steam in OT.

and again the spurs dont have to worry about if they will make it the WCF next year, they know they will be there; you also need to wait and see what happens during the offseason for your team, heck you might lose key players to higher contracts or trades, because as well all know the NBA is a business

and ur spurs allowed the mavs to get up 3-1. i'm pretty positive dallas will keep most of its key players. and what u r saying is with the new seeding structure dallas will get past san antonio again because all u said was they would make it to the WCF. Awesome! I can't wait for another whooping of the spurs!

do you really want me to re write what I said I'm sure even a dumb mav fan could understand that I meant the spurs dont have to worry about if they can make it to the finals they know they can.

and like the spurs have found it alot of pressure is put on the recent champions to repeat; aka spurs, pistons. so what makes you think the nba wont be gunning for you next year if you win it all

and like I said the spurs were one basket or one less foul from reaching the WCF,

oh and I am glad you are proud about dominating the Grizzlies aka The NBA's Playoff Bitch, they havent won a single playoff game yet

I'm embarrassed that there are Mavs fans who come here and act like 10 year olds. Please don't think we are all like that. I enjoy reading this board, and that is why I come. I don't post often, and I don't talk trash. I do want to defend Adrian Griffin though. While I agree that he made a stupid mistake by dunking the ball at the end of the game, I would hate for people to remember him for only that. Griff is a class act through and through (he just had a major brain fart there). He reminds me of someone like Bowen (with much less talent of course). He's not a showy player. He just comes in, works hard, and takes whatever role Avery gives him. Most of you probably don't care and will only remember him for something stupid he did in the last few seconds of a game which is unfortunate.

And again, I apologize for immature fans. It's not like "we" won anything. The team did. And you guys are right, we haven't won the championship yet. There's still work to be done.

Hard-working players do some stupid things sometimes. :lol

Bruce Bowen kicked Ray Allen or whatever.
Adrian Griffin inappropriately dunked the ball last night.
Raja Bell called Kobe Bryant "retarded" and then tried to behead him.

None of these three players should only be remembered for these things, though.

At least he doesn't dunk the ball on the last play with the game and series already decided like a classless piece of shit Mavs player Adrian Griffin.----jt

only a bitter partisan fan could compare these guys.
although I didn't like to see griffin get ovewhelmed by excitement and dunk when we didn't need it, I wont use this one very minor lapse in judgement to allow you to compare jason williams to one of the classiest and most approachable players in the league. Williams is a wangsta who gets run out of town after threatening to assault reporters and is probably the last person in the NBA i would want to hang out with (Tony Parker excepted).

i know you enjoy working up a lot of righteous indignation over the dunk thing, but deep down inside you liked it just so you would have something to give mavs' fan a hard time about en route to their coronation while you cry in your beer.

when these guys retire, no one (except maybe some bitter spurs/suns people) will even remember this minor outburst of illadvised enthusiasm.

hehe...just in case you didn't notice, bruce bowen isnt the most talented player in the league either.

he's pretty limited in the things he can do as well...i'd say the two are pretty comparable ins terms of skill set...bowen's defense is even better than griff's.

OK Griffin isn't like that cretin Dan Dickau who would take shots at the buzzer when the Mavs had the game won. Griff is a vet. He knows how to play the game.

Griff was out on a fastbreak. The Suns were fouling. It was their only shot at winning a game. Griff barely beat the shotclock on that dunk. That leads me to believe he had no idea how much time was left. He just knew that if he scored then Phoenix would conceed and stop fouling and the game would be over. EVERYONE is going to dunk on a play like that if they know the other team is going to foul. I just believe that Griff didn't know how little time was still left on the clock.

Griff doesn't get a little clock ticker on the bottom of his screen like we do. Players do forget how much time is left sometimes. He was directly under the basket. He cant see the clock, he just dunked it as a Suns player was coming at him.

The suns were in full attack mode to. They get to pad their stats just because they suck and are losing? If the ball is in Marion's hands on a fastbreak with time winding down the same thing happens... but because they are losing it's okay?

Don't get me wrong, I'd be pissed if the shoe was on the other foot, but as usual spurs/suns fans are blowing it out of proportion.

Tony wouldn't take 24 seconds to run a fastbreak.

Obviously he would pass it out to Nazr at the 15 second mark for the trey.

I can't believe Mavs fans are even calling their team a "dynasty" - it's laughable... maybe when they get swept by the Heat they can make WCF rings and a WCF DVD for all their players, like the Astros did after getting spanked in their first world series ever last year.

You're such an idiot that it almost pains me to respond to this argument - I have this game on tape and just went back and watched what happend: he (Griffin) was way ahead of any Suns player since the Suns were down by 7 and the shot clock was off... then Griffin slows down, looks at one of the 300 game clocks that are shown in a typical NBA arena (probably the one over the Suns basket based on where it seems he was looking) and dunks the ball at the buzzer!!

If "Grif is a vet" and "knows how to play the game" like you claim, then he would know how much time is left on the clock. I guess like Derek Harper blew your only other chance to get to the Finals in 1988 because he thought the Mavs were up by one, it must be a Dallas curse that players don't know the score or game times when they are clearly posted throughout the entire arena.

When did anyone here say anything about a dynasty? The suns were screwed when Thomas went running his mouth like the ignorant person he is. Accept defeat and move on. Suns got out played in every second half except game 4, Mike got outcoached big time, the owner needs to take notice of this and do some major moves in the offseason.

Wow - you're still as dumb as ever - the "dynasty" comments were made on about page 3 of this thread... secondly, the Mavs had no major injuries to deal with this entire series and the Suns had plenty of key ones (Kurt Thomas, Amare, Raja Bell) and still took it to six games and had the sixth in control if they didn't run out of gas. Avery "out-coached" to the tune of a season-low 14 pts in the first quarter... against a team that plays no defense... except it's difficult to play any defense when every call isn't going your way...

ronmexico.
the injury thing is weak.
mike dantoni has no appreciation for just how difficult it is to win an NBA title, but i excpect him to develop it through years and years of coming up short.
it really comes across with statements like "thats why we will win a title here soon" last night ("because our guys have charachter" (?)).
when you get to rarified air like the WCF you can't take it for granted that you will be back. thats why the injury excuse goes out the window, just as it did or should have for dallas when Dirk went down in 03 WCF. i look for fine regular season records and future second round exits from you guys in future years a la Nellie's Mavs.

Did you enjoy donatoni's comment that "they can't guard us" after he won game 1 scoring 120 points? that wasn't very wise. how did that work out for you guys struggling to score 100 points per game the rest of the season? avery had more peices to work with but certainly outcoached dantoni in the sense that he had his guys playing championship style basketball and worrying about all facets of the game, including rebounding and defense and not just offense.

i can understand why you guys are proud of your team and all given all its adversity etc. don't forget that you had amare last year, though, and that wasn't enough either. Certainly you guys are unlikely to beat SA in a 7 game series anytime soon, no?

For the Phoenix Suns it should be back to the drawing board...
instead, they'll role out the same gimick offense next year with, i suspect, similarly predictable results.

dantoni is an emotional guy and its cool that he shows so much love for his team, but as a result of this he ends up saying a lot of things that are way off base.

Coaches coach during the game to you know. Mike D'antoni makes no halftime adjustments at all, in games 1,2,3,4 and 6 he had the lead at halftime and looky their he blew 3 of them. Do you listen to post game interviews, after games Avery talks about how their team has to adjust defensively and offensively. All mike can say is if they make more shots they will win. He has the coaching IQ of a 3rd grade little league coach. Nash is the real coach on the team. The only plays mike has them run is alley oops, he said himself after game 5 when asked about not getting thomas the ball when he was hot that they don't run plays for specific players. Nice coaching their, can't even run an offense.

Your team won, so I suppose that it is only fair that you get to write the history.

However, please dont shrug off Raja Bell's injury like it is no big deal. As if D'Antoni had the same chess pieces in games 2-6 as he had in game 1...because he didnt. Raja was the teams best defender, and most leather long range shooter, having hit 36-73 (playoff) three pointers prior to tearing his calf.

Would the Suns have beat the Mavs if Raja was healthy? Who knows. I do know that the 1 game where he was 100%, the Suns beat the Mavs, in Dallas, 121-118.

It is all speculation at this point. The better team won. That is what the scoreboard shows. That is what history will tell.

Good job to the Mavs. Enjoy the ride from here.
