Woohoo! That much closer to being my Suga Momma :lol

Seriously, though- Congrats to Jess! UW is a great organization that actually gets money to the places it's supposed to be with low overhead. Just as charities should be. Great choice!

Thanks!

I do like the United Way organization a lot, and the main part of my job is helping them to do some research on informal community assets that will later be published for the community's use. I'm basically getting paid to get out in the community, so I'm happy about it :)

We are very involved with the United Way where I work. They uhhh...strongly recommend....a payroll deducted contribution, and we do lots of fundraisers toward the end of the year.

That's awesome, congratulations! :elephant

Meeeee, too. I'm not cut out for retail (customer service in general) and it's been hard for me to find much else without a degree.

God dammit!!

The day after I take a job I get a call from another nonprofit who was "very impressed with my resume" (and who was going to pay me almost twice what I'm making with United Way) to come in for an interview. Murphy's Law, man, MURPHY'S LAW.

SpursWoman
06-07-2006, 05:44 PM
So...go to the interview. :lol

MannyIsGod
06-07-2006, 05:45 PM
Thats what I said! I think the UW would understand. It's not like she'd be switching for a buck or 2 more, it is quite a substantial difference in money.

Melmart1

I say go to the interview. Always leave your options open and take advantage of opportunities.

ShoogarBear
06-07-2006, 05:53 PM
Hmm, I would be very suspicious of a "non-profit" who can afford to pay twice as much as the United Way. :lol

But I would go to the interview unless you really really love the UW job (speaking as someone who will being paying about 0.00000001% of your UW salary).

Jekka

I'll probably go to the interview - the way the United Way position is organized (and even though they bumped us up to 40 hours/week today instead of the original 30) I will be doing a lot of it from home and on evenings and weekends, so I could possibly do a part time with the other place while still working for UW. UW is actually paying me decent money (I love working for a well-funded nonprofit ... there aren't too many of them), but I'm calling the other place back in the morning to schedule the interview.

It's only when you DON'T need someone to call that they do, I swear.

I'm going to teach her to play poker and she's going to siphon the United Way funds into our Mutual Bankroll. Thank You for caring, America!

:tu And I thank you for your contribution - as well as the others who have replied that contribute to UW. It's a totally different nonprofit environment when the organization is well-funded. They're getting a lot done, but without the perpetual stresses of being understaffed.

Non conservative? What's that supposed to mean? Public service and those that serve others by choice have no party(I don't mean that as a matter of fact just as a point). You'll find people of all walks of life. Ever hear of Combined Federal Campaign?
