View Full Version : Moving forward: frontline

Mohammed is gone. In our hearts, Radoslav is too.

Oberto is, well, there. Somewhere between being the 4th big and wearing Armani on the bench.

Horry would be gone, but it's up to him. He's also a Spur For Life after that Game 5 performance last year.

TD, rest well this summer. Warrior.

Sean, well, shoot 200 jumpers a day to get ready for that 5 game midseason cameo. Otherwise, it's been nice.

Welcome, Robertas and Luis.

4 Duncan/Scola/Horry
5 Javtokas/Nesterovic/Oberto

It's crazy, but, well, there's not much else of an alternative. Maybe a Reggie Evans and one last season for Scola with Tau. Ian, how are you feeling? Hope you like SA.

Somehow I think Col. Harry Potter is bringing in the 4077th this summer. I'm just not feeling any of this.

Nester just hasn't shown me anything of an improvement and that's scary. Oberto is a four in this league and to be honest this frontline really needs someone who has NBA muscle and can seriously shore up on defense.

Radar I think i hear choppers!!

Is this another Malik Rose thread?

Moral of the story: had the Spurs rested their hopes on a scrub who can't get court time on the worst team in the league, championships would have followed.

We get it. For the fiftieth time.

Nazr left? For real?

Somehow I don't see Scola AND Jak with us next year. It'll be one of the two I think and and Rasho and Barry being traded for younger guys. This offseason leaves little to the imagination. It's either do it or face a downfall.

Me either.

I think they'll add Javtokas. And add a more athletic forward.

I think they'll try to move Rasho and Oberto, but probably won't be able to do so. And I think Nazr and Sean are gone.

What if all we do are small changes and are left with pretty much the same roster.

60 win season again?

Well, I did write "frontline"...

3 Bowen/JJones

Spurs can use the LLE for Javtokas and then perhaps split the MLE to obtain Scola (or Evans) and Jones. That would be pretty tight, but Spurs would have to do that to be able to pull it off.

I'm not relying on getting Scola because I never trust the talk that his buyout has been reduced. Last summer we read the same stuff and it was still 14.5M.

If it happens, it happens. But I'm not betting on Scola ever being a Spur.

4 Duncan/Scola/Horry
5 Javtokas/Nesterovic/Oberto

The scary thing about that grouping is rebounding. We know Scola, Horry, Rasho and Oberto aren't rebounders. Javtokas might be a rebounder, but bringing in a guy with a titanium leg and hoping he can rebound on the NBA level is rather scary.

That's why I want the Spurs to go out and get a power forward who can rebound. The Spurs' playoff downfall was getting outrebounded in 11 of the 13 games. Scola could very well be a good player, but even if he is he's not going to bring rebounding or interior defense.

What I'd like to see is something like:

C Duncan/Javtokas/Oberto or Young Big (Mahinmi)
PF Mobile Rebounder (Evans)/Horry/Derrick McKey type or Scola

To me, Javtokas is a good replacement for Nazr and Rasho. I can't see how he could be any worse.

But don't ask me how I propose to get rid of Rasho's contract :pctoss

Radar I hear choppers!!

I'm telling you guys, Cpl. Klinger will come in here and take care of Rasho's contract and Hot Lips Hoolihan will make sure the rest do their jobs.

Don't even want to think about what is available.

Well, the good thing remains that the Spurs say when Scola comes to the NBA. Javtokas feels like such a wild card. He's rebounded well...in Europe. If he blows up a lot of things fall into place. If he doesn't, Radoslav is likely the starting center, the frontcourt rotation will be constantly changing, and TD will have to do everything up front again. The one thing I will say is that Rasho & Nazr have set the bar so low that it might not be that difficult for Javtokas to improve upon their performances this season.

I think the Spurs need someone like Evans in the worst way. I'm just not sure the Spurs realize that.

The Spurs need to go American this time, sorry.

Javtokas, Scola, Oberto, Rasho and Beno need to go home.

Rasho for a young athletic rebounder.
I doubt we will get both scola and Jav and according to spurs report Jav only needs july 12 to come along so he can sign with the spurs.

What I don't get is how can Ian not "be ready"

We've seen this cat jump off the court with spring like legs, how hard is it for him to lift weights 3 hours a day and practice his jumper? He's exactly what we need, a fuckin big guy who can jump....all he needs to do is add some muthle to his huthle

Chuck Hayes is the new Malik Rose, only three inches taller, nine years younger and 10-20 times less expensive.

Hayes + Javtokas + TJ Cummings or Sharrod Ford or some other scrub = all we need to end Malik Rose threads once and for all.

Maybe I've got an idea.

Who knows where the contracts are? Burn Rashos contract. And then say the spurs never had a contract with Rasho.

Rasho would come on the camp and Pop would be like WTF Rasho? You are not on that team!
