View Full Version : Oddly, I find myself rooting for Dallas....here's why:

Walker.

Why is that odd? You're a Piston fan. You're supposed to hate Miami more than Dallas.

But Walker's the only one I can actually summon up some hate for. Miami beat us with swarming defense, superior coaching and more hunger; it's not easey to admit, but they did earn my (grudging) respect. But just the memory of a shimmy-shake is enough to make me want to fire something heavy at the screen, and seeing that second-rate chucker coat-tailing his way into the Finals is deeply, deeply annoying.

Okay, there's a secondary reason - I like AJ; I don't like Riles. Still, it's mainly about Walker.

I hate/dislike:

Miami
Zo
Walker
Wade
Shaq
Riley

Dallas
AJ
Damp
Cuban
Van Horn

I really can't root for either team. I really dislike many people on each. I suppose I have more emotion against Miami, but I do not want them to lose only to have more hunger next year against the Pistons. If they win, Shaq and Walker will feel free to add 120 pounds each in the offseason and come back as their usual soft pudgy selves.....so go Miami I think.

I only hate Walker and Payton.

I also hate Jason Terry.

Walker and Van Horn are the guys that bug me the most. The knife Riley left in his man Stan's back doesn't thrill me either.

I think Wade's just picking up some bad attitude from Shaq; he could go either way, but I expect he'll turn into another Kobe-type egomaniac.

Zo....damn, I could really dislike him, but I'd have to work at it. Playing like he does, at his age, I'd actually cheer for him getting a ring. Except that means Chuc^h^h^hWalker would get one too.

Reminds me...I really, REALLY dislike Cuban. But my annoyance with Walker is broader and deeper.

Walker's so bad... the idea of him getting a championship is pretty hilarious, which is why it probably won't happen!

That guy missed 12 shots and had 6 turnovers! :pctoss

fuck the mavs. cuban, dirk and terry are all hoes. i dont like shaq but wade is a young superstar and deserves this shit. ryle is a veteran and better make something happen. i dont much care for walker but i hate dallas and would pay good money to see cuban, dirk and terry cry, those fuckin pansies.

If that is what we have as our representation now then I'm moving. Alas I will never think that Dallas is an accurate representation of Texas. Give them to Oklahoma.

Yeah, I hate him, too. But I'm cheering for Dallas because they have a deep, talented team committed to defense and a former Piston on the roster.

LA, Detroit, Chicago, and Texas - that's every single NBA title since 1986.

You could show how much you don't hate him by spelling his name correctly.

You may hate the Mavs. You may hate everybody on this organization. but don't insult Dallas or any city in the state of Texas like this. Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Austin are all different cities in Texas but they all represent the greatest state in America.

i am always amused by fellow mavs fans invoking some sort of comraderie with you miserable Spurs fans because we are from the same state.

i for one want no part of you guys coattailing off of our greatness this season.

ShoogarBear
06-09-2006, 10:49 PM
Yeah, cause if there's one thing the Spurs fans are known for, it's coattailing off of all the great historical Maverick successes.

Or was that all of the great Grizzly successes . . . I forget?

SPARKY

The only coattailing I've seen is from Mav fan.

shoogarbear you can talk history all you want buddy, i'm talking about the year 2006. i'll take the present.

the cowboys are going to have more super bowl rings than the Eagles at the end of next year too, but that doesn't mean I'll have anything on them if they knock us out of the playoffs next year en route to the superbowl. that would be a little bit far fetched, yes yes?

...best of luck to your nice little squad. making it to the final 8 is a nice accomplishment.

pussyface
06-09-2006, 11:21 PM
also, i didnt say you guys were coattailing. you arent. you guys all hate the mavs.

i was just saying that it was funny that a lot of mavs fans say they want you to ride out coattails on the Texas connection. Im not one of them.
It brings me great personal satisfaction to watch you guys adopt all of the Maverick's foes in vain, only to be dissapointed repeatedly.

What is wrong with a little pandering…..??? lol

Offering up a few crumbs off the table…..????

I think it makes them feel like they are somebody…..

I would like to see the Mav’z, or should I say the little general pull this off… But there is an upside if the Heat find away…………

You are joking right? I guess seeing Cuban act like a 12 year old on an exercise machine is very entertaining.

Game 5 is one of the top games in NBA finals history. 7 game series that went down to the wire in the fourth quarter. It was an epic battle between the two best teams in the NBA. Game 5 and game 7 were epic.

Unless you're basing your comparison strictly on reputation or hype, it seems a little early to be calling this year's finals one for the ages.

If it'll be for the ages, it'll be due to Wade's spectactular performances.

Game 5 of the 2005 finals will live on in the gallery of top NBA finals games AND performances for centuries.
