Texas is getting 10,000-20,000 or so seats installed. They will be top 5 when it's all done they are also getting the biggest video screen in college football.

A few years back a reporter asked DeLoss Dodds, the Texas AD, about the state of college athletics and trying to keep up with the Joneses.
Dodds simply said, "We are the Joneses."

I believe its 10k, which will put us at about 90,000, but that won't be for a little while, and that lovely big screen will also be the only HD one in the country :)

NE just put in a HUGE AZZ screen, but I don't know if it was HiDef or not.

A little while? 2008 isn't that far ahead. That's when those new seats will be finished.
For those that hasn't seen the seats.

This will put the official seating number in the stadium to 91k. :elephant
You know A&M will do something about this.

In 2004 A&M announced a long term plan to take Kyle Field to something like 115k... don't know if any real plans ever got solidified.
That new stadium for UT looks nice.

Bwah... Aggies say their expansion could be 20 years away... that's not an expansion plan, it's a pipe dream! :lol

I didn't find anything on Nebraska's upgrades.

The following is from the two articles.
Texas-Memorial Stadium:
-"first collegiate facility that will have true-high definition resolution on their scoreboard"
- "Fans of the 2005 NCAA National Champion Longhorns will see incredible, high-resolution, crystal clear, live video and replays on a new ProStarŽ display with an active area approximately 55 feet high by 134 feet wide (Pure PixelŽ resolution of 848 pixels by 2,064 pixels)."
Memorial Stadium:
-"The 33-foot-high, 117-foot-wide Mitsubishi DiamondVision screen is being perched above the 6,500 new seats that are part of a $50 million football facilities upgrade."
- "Memorial Stadium's new screens are touted as the biggest in college football."
So, from those measurements it looks like the UT one is a LOT bigger.
Oh, and stylistics, I meant a little while as in not this coming season. I didn't say a long time. This season we're supposed to have 3,000 seats worth of bleacher space in the south end zone to make up for lost ones due to construction.

Got ya. However, I hope that when the stadium is at 91,000 people in 2008. They sell out every game. Not a seat is left open and make the demand even higher. Because the stadium is suppose to be built out at 110,000. NOW THAT will take a long time.

Considering the fact that there are lots of students who don't get tickets for certain games now, I'd assume they'll still sell out the games.

Brutalis - as a lifelong LSU fan, I pray to the football gods that they stop making us play you guys in that spectacular crap hole of a stadium in Little Rock. I would love to go to Fayetteville for that ballgame every other year.
Make it happen. :clap

They packed 84,500 into DRK in 1999 against Nebraska when the official capacity was 80k. This expansion will probably put it closer to 95,000 although the 'official' capacity will be around 90,000. They have building capacity for more than 110,000. More like 125,000. Not saying they'll do it, but they could.

The Hogs all-time record at War Memorial is 136-52-3. That's a pretty potent home field advantage and it's probably a better record than when Arkansas plays in Fayettenam.

I'm not debating their effectiveness there. it's purely selfish because the stadium in Little Rock makes the Cotton Bowl look like the Taj Mahal.
