That was it. ONE.

I've been assigned Irving plant loads for 3 days running, so all the way up I-35E, West on I-20 over to Spur 408 and up to Loop 12 to Union Bower street, I've been watching for Mavs spirit on the cars of Dallas.

Today I saw the ONE and ONLY Mavs car flag. That was it. No bumper stickers, no Mavs window art, no nothing. There is a building going up across the highway from the AAC with a large Go Mavs banner on it, but other than that, I am led to believe that Mavs fans are mostly band wagon jumping idiots who don't want anyone to know it.

You suck, Mavs fans!

One.

... singular sensation
Every little step she takes.
One thrilling combination
Every move that she makes.
One smile and suddenly nobody else will do;
You know you'll never be lonely with you know who.

One moment in her presence
And you can forget the rest.
For the girl is second best
To none,
Son.
Ooooh! Sigh! Give her your attention.
Do...I...really have to mention?
She's the One?

Fuck you this isn't true at all. I'm from arlington and the whole damn city is supporting the mavs. I see mavs bumber stickers everywhere i go. All the dallas radio stations are even talking about the mavs. The DFW area is huge, were talking about dallas, fort worth, arlington, plano, crowley, carrolton, flower mound, coppel, lewisville, south lake, duncanville, desoto, denton, irving, mansfield, mesquite, etc. You are fucking retarded if you don't already know that all these cities are supporting the mavericks. The mavericks have a bigger fan base than any other team in the league.

I will agree with you about this point. There are several bandwagon fans now that the Mavs have made it to the Finals but that doesn't mean that the Mavs don't have a loyal fan base that have supported them throughout the years. Hopefully some of these bandwagon fans will stick around and watch next season. The Spurs fans have had a lot to cheer about the last 6 years and their fan base has grown as a result but I remember when it wasn't so hot in S.A. and lots of those fans were Rockets fans come post-season. I don't live in Dallas, I live in Austin so I'm well aware of the years of growth that the Spurs fanbase has experienced.

Funny thing about mavs fans though, my boss has floor seats to the finals, and said that the crowd for game 1 was a bunch of 50 year old executive types

and that the crowd was ridiculously louder for the spurs series.

I'm a huge Mavs fan, have been for a long time...I have no bumper sticker (I would never put any kind of sticker anywhere on my car...sue me. It's not about not supporting a team, it's about preference. I don't like the way it looks. I pay a pretty penny for my car and stickers are a no-go.) I have no flag, no magnet. Even if the metroplex wasn't (which it is) overrun with the flags and stickers and magnets, I don't know why that supposedly equates to the city having no interest in the team/the team not being supported.

1. Every city and every team has bandwagon fans. San Antonio, though you may think so, is no exception to this. You just happen to see more Spurs gear around SA because the city only has the one sport. If the Mavs were the only thing Dallas had, you'd see the same number of stickers and whatnot as in SA.
2. There is a lot of support for the team right now. Flags, stickers, shoe polish on the windows, etc. Whether they're bandwagoners or not isn't the point - there is plenty of support to be seen.
3. Game 1 of the Finals (especially the pregame introductions and the countdown to tipoff) was the loudest I have ever heard that arena and I've been to every home game for the last 3 seasons. Pretty amazing energy in the crowd.
4. There are old executive-types on the floor level for every game around the league.

What's up with trying to call out the fans in Dallas? We support our teams just fine and will continue to do so.

This is basically right. The one counterpoint I would make is that even for a multisport town, Dallas hasn't traditionally been a great basketball town. It's better than it used to be thanks to the team turnaround, and this year's run will certainly convert some new longterm fans, but teams in Dallas are competing for second place behind the Cowboys.

That doesn't mean there aren't hardcore Mav fans or that the city doesn't give a crap, but Dallas has a long way to go to be as in to basketball as some other multisport cities like Detroit or NYC are.

It's quite interesting because I don't recall ever saying Dallas teams had won a championship in the past few years. I said there's a big difference between a city who has multiple teams who have historically been extremely successful and a city who has exactly one horse.

When that horse dies, like it did a few weeks ago, all you whiners bitch and moan for months because you have nothing else left. THAT is the point. Not notpicking of whether or not the Stars have won "this millenium" (which, by the way, is such a weak remark it's almost unbelievable).
