This guy is the 2 time Euroleague best defender. He's a long rangy PG who frequently is among the tops in steals AND Blocks.

Any info this guy? Who owns his rights? Is he a good passer?

Is this guy Spurs material at the backup PG slot?

Looks like he has tools to clamp down on Nash and Harris etc, if not at the back up PG slot then perhaps as a defensive specialist at the 2...

The Spurs needed 2 Bowens against Dallas.

Hmm. never heard of him.

He might be a Moncrief kind of guy :) That would be superb. Unfotunately I'm not looking for a miracle.

He hit the winner three on Parker at the last second of the euro semifinal.
I don't know him well but his main weakness is that he is maybe too slow to play PG in nba.

a clip on him (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_QOzrc7Z3w)

That a shitty answer Polandprezm...what kind of Euro are you giving that kind of answer?

And do they have white people in Poland? And pickles? Plumbers?

Thx for the info Bruno.

Do you know if any NBA team has his rights? I couldn't find any that did.

How slow can he be if he was matched up against Parker though? Parker's like the fastest basketball player in the world. That, and speed is usually a requirement for a being a good defender...

He is a free agent.

Parker was quite bad at this euro.
I've just heard that he is slow, maybe that will hurt him against quick nba point guards.

I have enough respect for the current Euroleagues to think that their two time best defensive player is probably an NBA caliber player, at least bench caliber. I wouldn't mind seeing the Spurs give this guy a camp invite or something.

I don't know him enough to judge if he can be a good nba player.
After all, if Antony Johnson can succeed in nba, why not Diamantidis ?

He has success in europe, I don't see him accepting a camp invite with a unguaranteed contract.
Maybe the LLE on him can be a good solution if he is a free agent in Europe.

This is from the top of my head.

He's a very good defender.
Motivation seems to be an issue (he goes from fantastic games to invisible mode real quick).
Was involved in a few fights (I believe with teamates as well).

I might be wrong but this is what stuck in my head about this guy.

P.S. I believe he has a "dirty" reputation - which is probably a compliment to his defensive skils.

Do they have basketball in Poland?

Diamantidis is indeed slow-ish. He plays SG in Panathinaikos as Lakovic is the primary PG there. He's tall and strong for PG. a very good player, but perhaps not too suited for NBA. Where is Nikos when you need him?

He's the best perimeter defender in Europe. We have mentioned him in threads the past couple of years. He and Papaloukis were the reason Greece won in Eurobasket last summer. He's not as tall as Bruce. Polandprzem was pulling your leg.

Here is a game blog from France and Greece from last summer's Eurobasket. He hit the game winner.

Diamantidis...

He is the defensive backcourt along Lakovic's offensive game in Panathinaikos.
His game is a slow Ginobili impersonation minus the dunks. Rebounding guard with mostly streaking shot but a stabile defending game when playing with good power forwards - Panathinaikos and Greeks are both playing with quick and able tall players - powerforwards. Has difficulties when playing where somebody there are two big guys, but loves to fight with a taller guy for the ball.

His minus is his offense, but he never gets a good perimeter player in his face, so he gets decent numbers in Panathinaikos. A very talented player who will most likely play Final4 next year...but will have trouble with his offense..Panathinaikos will get bigger next year.
Likely will stay in Europe and will get paid the same money. He is a Euro-champion, u know.

Diamantidis doesn't want to play in the NBA. He actually said a couple of times that his game isn't good enough for NBA basketball.

Well, while in Europe, Parker never was better than Beno Udrih. You know under 18 years old, under 20 years old... And Beno did not realy get his minutes in NBA. That is a part of frustration when we are talkng about Beno.
Parker does not have any special reputation in Europe.

There was a lot of much better European players who did not get their real chance in NBA ....Ignorance...

Parker is now better than Beno...

I don't know, Whottt, there are an awful lot of the letters "i" and "d" and...tricky name. Just kidding. Interesting name and looks like a baller.
