So I turn on the tv...
One of the major local channels has NHL hockey, the other has WNBA basketball. =/
So I think to myself, what if the WNBA turns into a success? What if 10 years from now, you're kids (grankids?) ask you if you remember the beginnings of the league. Like people talk about the first superbowl. What will you say?
This, and I once again reminded myself I need to learn how to watch Hockey.
(also, how much do these WNBA chics make? Our team didn't look too shabby, what happened to that big bitch...big Marge?)

Stadium full of middle-aged dykes and people who have nothing better to do than be at a WNBA game.
Sounds like fun!

The movie is even better as an adult. I own it. Haven't watched it in a while, but it's a great flick.
"Everyone I know has a big 'but'! Come on Simone, let's talk about your big 'but'!!!

WNBA players make a fraction of what NBA players make, which shows that they're really in it for the game. (Not that NBA players aren't, but we all know there are some out there who seem to care more about money.)
As for the Silver Stars, I've met and interviewed a few of them and they are very nice and funny. Not at all "dikey". As for the crowd at the games, there are definitely your share of lesbians, but there are more heterosexual woman who are there to support the team. There are also an incredible amount of young girls who are truly excited and inspired to see women playing in professional sports.
I know that most people think that women's professional basketball sucks... I used to be one of them. However, I've learned to see the bigger picture.

Setting aside the question of whether you respect the players or whether girls find them inspirational, do you honestly like the product on the court?

Sometimes. The league is comprised of mostly average players. There are a few players who are well above average, but their play is often brought down to the level of those playing around them. As in any sport, if the game is close, it can be exciting down the stretch. I was watching the Stars vs. Monarchs game on tv a couple weeks ago and they were fighting down the stretch. Sophia Young got a monster block at the end, which insured the win. Whether it's NBA or WNBA, you can't help but get excited when you see a play like that.
Overall, the game isn't nearly as exciting as the NBA, but as the saying goes... it is what it is. If you were to go to a Stars game, you would see that the people there are extremely happy to be there and cheering the whole time. The lower bowl is filled with cheering fans. It's how a lot of people would like to see the lower level during a Spurs game.
