Guard Kerry Kittles, acquired by the Clippers in the offseason to replace Quentin Richardson as the starting shooting guard, may not be ready for the regular season opener in early November. Kittles is recovering from offseason knee surgery. "At this point," coach Mike Dunleavy told the Los Angeles Times. "I'm not really counting on him for the opener."

Kittles was supposed to be on a six-week recovery schedule, but four weeks into it, the team is telling us he has no timetable for returning. Color us concerned about Kittles' early-season availability. The Clippers are also without starting point guard Marko Jaric (broken finger) right now, so we'll keep an eye on who plays well in the backcourt during the preseason, starting Wednesday night against the Suns.
