View Full Version : UFC 61 & TUF 3

Mr Dio
06-11-2006, 03:39 PM
OK, who will win?

I know I know, TUF3 is 2 wks away & UFC 61 is 4.

Hmmmm, I'd have to go with Sylvia & Ortiz IF Ortiz goes.

I'll have to think a little about TUF 3.

For TUF, Mike Bisping is going to run away with lhw. Middleweight is much more open, though. Kendall looks good, but Rory Singer is underrated.

As for 61... Shamrock can't keep up with Tito Ortiz. He's old, and was never that good to begin with. Sylvia/Arlovski is going to be great. Sylvia's a lot better than he was a few years ago, but Arlovski's a great fighter and an intelligent man. He lost the last fight because he underestimated Big Tim. I don't think he'll do it again. My prediction is Arlovski in the second.

Mr Dio
06-12-2006, 07:33 PM
The Arlovski Sylvia wil be a 5 rounder right?

I thought it was hilarious when Singer knocked out that idiot from "Dagger". The llok on his face when he woke-up & the questions he asked. :lol

Tito easy win...

AA will lose again thanks to his glass jaw...

UFC is BLOWING UP...give a shot if you haven't... :fro

Joe Stevenson over Yves Edwards? I call BS.

LEONARD
06-15-2006, 11:59 AM
Stevenson would be an upset for sure...

I'm curious to see what he looks like at 155 lbs. He was almost too bulky at 170 lbs. He gas'd out in his last fight against Neer. Joe is training with Tito's Team Punishment in the mountains right now. (along with Matt Hamill, Kendall Grove, and Solomen from TUF 3, plus Ivan Salaverry and a couple others...)

Neer / Burkman should be a good fight...Burkman is also training with Tito's TP right now...

Mr Dio
06-15-2006, 05:13 PM
Well, I'd still have to say Joe S.
I guess that is going to be a good one eh?

Mr Dio

Mr Dio

Both these guys are pricks on tv.

Mr Dio
06-24-2006, 06:37 PM
That would be something.
While I'm not a fan of the "big guy" that bullies people type, I can respect Tito somewhat. Tito himself is a kinda ass as well. I think both of them lack Capt. America qualities for sure.

So, is it Bisping or Josh 2night?

there were some really good fights on saturday. kendall and bisping both looked pretty impressive in their wins. i have a feeling bisping will be a champ in the ufc sooner rather than later.

What a TURD...

The only good thing, and probably the BEST thing that's happened in the UFC EVER, was Silva standing in the ring with a Pride shirt on.

Fujita and Baroni are also rumored to be on the Nov card. An all out UFC / Pride war is brewing...

Sylvia called out Fedor and Crocop...he'll get murdered...

I can't wait for some of these narrowminded UFC fans to get a taste of Pride fighters. Chuck will get destroyed by Silva, IF it happens...

What HW's are you impressed with??? Please tell me YOUR top 5 HW's in the world...PLEASE!! I'm dying to know...

Of course it's my opinion that Silva will beat Chuck. What else would it be??? It's also about 70/30 Silva on Sherdog's poll...
http://www.sherdog.com

Yea, I know that Hughes trains with MFS. Sylvia has decent takedown defense, but NEVER had the intention of taking the fight to the ground in his gameplan (is that what you're inferring?). What does Matt Hughes have to do with anything? Sylvia is a stand-up fighter and that's it!! The fact that Hughes is with MFS is irrelevant...

MFS doesn't employ a "ground based strategy"...their strategy is to cross train in all aspects of the sport (as any good camp does today). Of all of the MFS fighters, Sylvia is the LEAST LIKELY to ever go to the ground...

I don't think Babalu can beat Chuck. He'd have to get him to the ground, but with Chuck's sprawl he'd have to muscle him down, and I think Chuck is too strong for Babalu. So, it'll be Chuck/Silva - and Chuck will be picked apart into a thousand tiny pieces. I'd rather watch Fedor stomp Tim Sylvia into the ground anyday.

If Babalu was to win I wouldn't be surprised if Tito got a title shot with him in Feb...and Chuck/Silva still happened because everybody wants to see...

All I can say is Chuck better not look past Babalu...he's damn good and got caught with a freaky shin kick to the face in first matchup. The list of guys he's fought is pretty stout...and his only losses are to:

Chuck (KO)
Randleman (decision)
Fedor!! (decision)
Overeem (toe hold...lol)
Henderson (decision)

and he's beaten:
Horn
Prangley
Shogun!
Sonnen
Van Arsdale

I realize some of these were under modified rules in other org's. He struggles with really good strikers but rarely gets beaten on the ground. Should be an awesome fight with Chuck...

Look at the context of Des' post. Done in a mature fashion. Supports an opinion WITHOUT bashing another's. Just gives an opinion.

When someone has an opinion other than what you think it should be you tend to get huffy. Besides, it's clearly evident Silva is someone that you come pretty close to dare I say, worshipping.

Like I said, head-to-head as proven to be the remedy. Til that happens, it'll always blah blah blah, will destroy blah blah blah, is a better blah blah blah.
Head-to-head.

Of course head to head is better...prior to UFC 61, most of the good matchups didn't look like they'd ever happen. Now we'll get to see them though... :fro

I certainly don't "worship" Silva...I just think that US MMA fans are in for a rude awakening when some of these Pride guys start coming over. Chuck has a chance...but NONE of the HW's do, not against the top Pride HW's anyway. Sylvia could possibly beat someone like Fujita...

But in the mean time, I'm curious to know why you're not impressed with CroCop? :drunk

Cro-cop is big, he's strong, he's intelligent, he's got a hellacious kick... and that's about it. A bit of a one-dimensional fighter. His ground game needs work and his punches can be sloppy at times, unless he's improved greatly since the last I saw of him.

I saw him fight within the past 2 wks or so on FSN & also once since the new yr. He didn't dominate like the hype I'd read on him. Unsure if they were reruns or not but I do think the recent FSN broadcast went the distance & IMO was a little boring.

lol all this talk about babalu beating liddell is funny..so many guys have come out and tried to take liddell to the groud and finish him with the ground and pound and it hasn't worked to well in the last year or two and he won't make a difference..liddell by knock out..

I guess we should be discussing all of the Spurs stellar off-season moves instead??? :lol

6'2", 215 is small for a HW...

He's extremely tough to take down and his ground game is improved (but still not a strength)...

When's the last time you saw him?

His 2 fights this year have been:

Yoshida, Verbal Submission (Leg Kicks), Rd 1, 7:38

Minowa TKO (Strikes), Rd 1, 1:10 (not even a fight)

Both of those fights were pretty dominant by CroCop. Yoshida ended up with a torn knee ligament and broken leg due to CroCop's leg kicks (with his weak leg because he was fighting with a left leg injury).

Who did he fight that went to a decision?? Fedor? Hunt?

Yet another fan who thinks Chuck Liddel and the UFC are the end-all, be-all of mma. God help us if that's true :lol

I haven't seen Cro-Cop since the Fedor fight. He's not big for a heavyweight, true, but that's still a big enough man to handle himself.

By the way: Cro-Cop and Wanderlei Silva are fighting in Pride on September 10th. Interesting...
