Clintons Appeal To California Supreme Court In Effort To Avoid Fraud, Conspiracy Lawsuit

‘Spiderman’ Partner Alleges Former First Couple Took $2 Million And Ran

Associated Press: Hillary Campaign Aide ‘Subject’ Of Criminal Probe

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton in a last-ditch effort to avoid charges of fraud, conspiracy and unjust enrichment have appealed to the California Supreme Court a lower court ruling that a lawsuit brought by Peter F. Paul, former Hollywood Internet entrepreneur and partner of Spiderman creator Stan Lee, may proceed. The appeal, filed in late August, is the Clintons’ latest effort to delay the first-ever civil lawsuit against a former president and sitting U.S. senator.

Judicial Watch first brought the lawsuit in 2001 on behalf of Mr. Paul, who spent nearly $2 million to produce in August 2000 a Hollywood tribute to honor President Clinton and to help raise funds for Hillary Clinton’s run for the Senate. Mr. Paul incurred these expenses as part of a $17 million business relationship he entered into with Bill Clinton to have the president work for Mr. Paul’s Internet companies, Stan Lee Media and Mondo English, after the president left the White House. Bill Clinton reneged on his deal with Mr. Paul, and none of Mr. Paul’s expenses was reported by Hillary Clinton to the Federal Election Commission, as was required by law. Mr. Paul has documentary evidence of his close relationship with the Clintons, including checks, thank-you notes from the Clintons and candid video and photographs.

[The Associated Press today reported that the U.S. Justice Department is investigating Mrs. Clinton’s campaign-finance practices. The article erroneously links Mr. Paul’s involvement with the Clintons to efforts to secure a presidential pardon. The California Superior and California Appellate courts ordered that Mr. Paul’s landmark lawsuit proceed against the Clintons, who have filed a number of motions that have sought to avoid not only a trial but the discovery process. The Superior Court on Sept. 23 did issue a stay of discovery in the case subject to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Clintons’ appeal.

“The Clintons obviously are desperate to keep the truth about their wrongdoing from coming out,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “But we are confident that, like their other ploys in this case, their latest gambit will fail, and they will have to answer the credible and serious charges that have been brought against them.”

The only thing shocking is that the Cons believe this Judicial watch instance, but totally ignore the Judicial Watch-found email linking Cheney to awarded Halliburton contracts. Selective perception, I guess.
