2 years in a row I've paid my $160 fee, only to be robbed of the best Spurs' games on League Pass, come March/April, by NBATV.

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. ...

You don't have NBAtv or what is the deal?

Screw it, I know I'm going to do it. And I bet you will, too.

This year I'm supposed to get NBA-TV, anyway.

Does anyone know if Saturday's game is going to be on MSG (and thus NBA-TV)?

On NBA.com, it says it's not. But Nikos said his guide changed today and said it will be.

Any confirmation from anyone else in that area?

I have no idea.

You'll hate yourself in the spring if you do it. They cull ALL of the good games to their shitty NBATV channel.

according to the new york schedule, this game is not televised and nba league pass starts on the 3rd of november?

I don't get why people don't get the games when they have League Pass. If you have League Pass, don't you have NBATV and get all the games?

My cable provider doesn't have NBATV (grrrr) and since I'm in So Cal, I either get League Pass or I don't get to watch any Spurs games. So I shell out the dough and get league pass.

Last year NBAtv wasnt included on league pass with Time Warner Cable in SA.

I believe it was included on an optional sports pack for like $4-5 more.

So if you had League Pass but not the sports pack you were SOL when they pulled games off LP

Last year NBA-TV wasn't an option at all on Comcast, even if you had League Pass.

"If you have League Pass, don't you have NBATV and get all the games?"

In SA, IIRC, in autumn 03, I had both. NBA TV was $1/month on rr/satx, totally indepedent purchase from LP. NBATV carried like one game/night, but not every night, which game was then not available on NBA LP. Those game-less nights, NBATV non-game content was shown on the left half of the screen, with the real-time score/gameclock/channel (nbalp, espn, abc, etc) for each of that night's games shown on the rigtht side scoreboard. But it's great for their NBA Classic games (this week I finally saw the Spurs' Memorial Day Miracle game). NBA TV mostly sucks for watching NBA games.

In contrast, NBA LP carried 7 - 10 games/night (I can ususally see nearly 3 games (between 18:00 and 24:00 hours), east/central/pacific TZ order), minus the one "lost to NBA TV", and minus the Spurs games (the NBATV Spurs channel game blacked out due to local availability, which is reason the bitch from Austin NBALO fans, being in the Spurs blackout area).

With so many people having non-CRT TV now, you'd think NBA TV (and lots of other cable content providers) would NOT burn-in your screen with their fucking huge, fixed-position screen-bottom logo bar + news ticker, esp since NBA news ticker really has nothing to say.

Those NBA LPcustomers who have high-quality large-screen TVs can see that the video quality of NBA LP games, a "digita"l chanel, is horrendously bad, very fuzzy, (the games from MSG are heavily orange-tinted), like the analog channels, probably due to the feed from the local-yocal game-site cameras being analog.

In short, NBA TV is just one channel and not for viewing an NBA game every night. NBA LP is about 10 channels (channel 600 to 611 IIRC).

Due to the huge difference in price, obviously NBA wants you to buy $170/6months. NBA LP rather than $12/year NBA TV.

Given NBA-TVs prediliction for scooping up all the late season high-profile games, I'm surprised the league doesn't really try to stick it to you by charging substantially more for it.

Oops, hope they're not scanning this thread . . .

Boutons, I know what channels NBA LP and NBA-TV are and I know what they are alll about. That's not what I was asking. I have had the channels since they first came out.

What I was asking was ... why if you have NBA LP would you miss game because it's on NBA-TV, as several people have stated? Doesn't everyone who has NBA LP also have NBA-TV?

Doesn't everyone who has NBA LP also have NBA-TV?Not necessarily.

NBAtv is part of a $2/month sports channel package here in Austin. It isn't included in any LeaguePass package.

Of course, I'm getting it free for now due to a screwup at Time Warner, but that's another story.

Sounds pretty ethical to me. Not surprising though.

Seeing as they are charging me $10/month for another service I didn't order, I'm not losing any sleep. Clearing it up with them, mother.

Not necessarily.

Yeah I realize it's not included sometimes. But most people who pay $160+ a year for LP are willing to pay another $24 for NBA-TV.

But most people who pay $160+ a year for LP are willing to pay another $24 for NBA-TV.Sometimes LP is available but NBAtv isn't -- most famously with Comcast last seeason, but I'm still there are still similar systems out there who hadn't reached a subscription agreement with the league.

Pretty good rationalization.

Back to the topic, please.

If Marcus can change the billing cycles of Time Warner with his Malik Rose championship wayback machine, he can lecture me on the ethics of the net loss of $8 for two TW mistakes while he begs for vBookie money he promised but didn't have.

Case closed.

BTW for the record, you can't give your vBookie money to other people. We don't have anyway to add or subtract money from anyone's account -- it's only done automatically when the bets are settled.

Time Warner makes you get Digital Cable to get access to League Pass. Out here in California, they let us break that $160 into 4 monthly payments of $40 to make it easy to purchase. To get NBATV, they also force you to purchase a Sports Package as well. So does Direct TV.
I'd pay close to $200 to get 95% of the games because that is the only way, I'll be able to watch Silver & Black on a regular basis.

Time Warner charged me $170 this year.

I'm wondering how it works on Time Warner Austin with regards to Spurs games. Do we still get the games on FSSW. I know we have KENS, but we don't have KRRT/KABB if they show any games there.

If I decided to get League Pass, could I see the Spurs games that are on KRRT/KABB in San Marcos?

Chump, how much is LP @ TWA?

boutons

LP price is not per market, I don't think. right now, LP is 169$ which stops on the last day of the regular season.

Spursman
10-29-2004, 06:28 AM
I have DirecTV. All I added was the local sports package that has FSSW. With that added addition I am able to watch every single one of the Spurs games. The games are always on FSSW, ESPN, TNT, ABC or Channel 5 and I will see every single one. If it is blacked out on ESPN or TNT then I see it on FSSW. Oh yeah, I should have added KRRT/KABB too. :drunk

Screw it. I just ordered it.

$169 for the LP, and extra $5/month for NBA-TV.

Bastards.
