View Full Version : Free Agency: Nene

Born: September 13, 1982
Sao Carlos, Brazil
Height: 6-11
Weight: 268 lbs. Age: 23
Pos: FC
Drafted: 2002, 1st round, 7th pick by Nuggets

Averages 10.6ppg 6.2rpg (2 offensive) .8blks on 28mins of play...was mainly a backing up Kenyon Martin. Sat out the entire season this past year due to a knee injury but has rehabs and should be ready to go this coming season.

he would provide us with the muscle and hustle down low when/if we lose nazr. He would also back up Duncan if he is having a bad night or needs much needed rest.

he is a RESTRICTED free agent so the nuggets can match any offer we give him.

My guess is that the Nuggets try to trade Kenyon and if there's no takers, then might not match on Nene.

The Spurs don't have the money to sign him though.

Kori how about a sign and trade for nazr? it seems nazr does not want to be here so maybe a sign and trade would work. Nene does seem he might be expensive BUT he didnt play all of last season which will hurt his stock. Plus i dont think he would mind playing a legit contender.

maybe we can get grandedavid to talk to him. :lol

If I was Nene I would consider becoming a free agent next season.

espn has him as a free agent this offseason

Having nene at center and Tim back at his natural position which is PF would be a great thing. I think the Spurs will explore all posibilities of maybe luring him, but I don't think it will happen. A man can dream though...

I think they woudl if he wasn't making near the max

Would be great.

Doubt we can afford him, TP, Manu AND Duncan though.

Stop teasing me.

I would love to see Kmart on this team. You saw how he was on a winner in NJ. I think him/manu and TP running the breaks would be orgasmic. He has a fire lit under his ass when he's contributing and his teams winning.

That said, when he's not contributing, or god forbid we start losing, look out...

Nene: Damaged goods? How’s his knees? Too many questions unanswered in my opinion.

Iam guessing this is not a good thing.

I dont know much about this recent knee injury. just that he sat out the entire season for it. He was able to return if the nuggets had made it out of the first round so iam guessing he is good to go when the season starts.

he really hasnt gotten a chance to shocase his skills with the arrival of kenyon and him having to take a back seat. iam sure he wants to get out of denver. i dont know how happy he will be being another backup though.

^ He wouldn't be a backup here.

If "javtokas is a lock" Like I declared then he might not get to start here either.

Even if he's a lock, I doubt he'll come in and start right away.

Him and Nene will probably split minutes with Javotkas coming off the bench.

Exactly. If we unload Nazr and Rasho, he may not mind coming into a starting job here. That may mean more to him than the money, because he wants to play and we will give him a chance to develop into a better player. He's not going to be asked to be an offensive threat, but just do the job that Rasho and Nazr have been trying to do, but as of yet are unsuccessful in.

im hoping the Nugs get rid of K for whatever they can get (hopefully an exp contract at least). Then they re-sign Nene and he starts at the 4. He is much more of a presence than Kmart and is what the Nuggets need.

God, I hope not. To me, he has an attitude problem. Plus, he is too much in love---------------------------with himself.

KMart is trash. Anyone who is still thinking that he is even 70% of the player he was in NJ is high. He's damaged goods and needs to go out to the curb.

Nene is alright, but as has been stated, he's probably out of our price range, and unless Denver is interested in our post rejects, there will be no S&T.

Man, I would love to have Nene on the Pistons. Him and Dice off the bench? Awesome.

But I don't think money wose we can come anywhere near to this happening. :depressed However, Cato and Hunter are probably done...and Davis may be gone too? perhaps they could free up soem money.

KMart before he got hurt was awesome. Nothing defines the kind of player you want on the Spurs like 3-23 in an elimination game.

KMart is 3-23 in elimination games?

Exactly how many elimination games has the guy played?

^ If Cato is done I'd look at hime as a cheap alternative to Nene for the Spurs.

We don't have enough money, & we have noone good to trade for them.

Hmm.

That's kind of a constant with the Spurs. Other than signing our own in Tim, Tony, and Manu, our big FA signings of the last 10 years were Bowen at $700K, Horry at vet min($1.XM), Finley at $2.5M, and Bones at $4M.
