I think a discussion of the Mavs' incipient chokage is germane in the NBA forum regardless of who brings it up.

Damn, Mod man, you're clenching as tight as the Mavs tonight.

Relax.

How's that parade plan for next Monday working out up there in Big D?

I'm pretty sure SA was up 2-0 in the finals last year and Detroit won games 3 and 4.

Heat in 6.

Dallas fucked themselves by not closing out game 3. Now the Heat have gathered their confidence, and are playing like they did in the 2nd and 3rd round. Nowitski is going to be a notorious choker.

i'm pretty sure the Spurs never set any Finals records, except for Duncan's most blocks in an NBA finals. But that took Defense so the Mavs will get nowhere near that one.

DirkAB

Nowitski will be the one that will be known as a choker, not Howard. Nowitski is supposed to be the one that carries that team when they are down. Anybody that thought Nowitski deserved the MVP this season couldn't have been more wrong.

The Heat aren't that good. It's just that Dallas made them look that way because they couldn't hit anything. What was it, something like 30% shooting by Dallas? If you are shooting that bad it makes anyone else look good.

Wrong, I think that the Heat made the Mavs look good games 1-3, and now we are seeing what Miami is truly capable of. I wasn't as impressed with what the Mavs did in the first 3 games as I was disappointed in the Heat.

This series has simply been a case of the home team taking care of business.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Both teams have looked like shit on the road.

It's 2-2, so they aren't choking away the series (yet).

But are Mavs fans worried about Dirk?

He choked a free throw last game and then came up 2-for-14 from the field tonight? :wtf

What did Miami show, they can win when Dallas missed wide open shots? Dallas shot 31%, 3/22 from 3 point line. Dallas isn't a 3 point shooting team anymore. Dallas has to miss wide open shots for the heat to win. If Dallas drives the lane 15 times in place of some of those 3 this ball game would of been alot closer.

Dirk is going to get almost all the pressure that Tim did last Finals.

It'll be interesting to see his response.

Not choking yet, but they're on the brink. And enough excuses trying to make Miami look bad. If their game was bad tonight, what's that make Dallas'? And the choke job the game before?

They showed team intensity, some nice ball movement for once in the series, players are no longer standing around waiting for Shaq and Wade to do something, got one more player involved in the series with Anderson, they played good defense (that zone was very tough), and most importantly they have shown confidence.

No, but I think you are dumb! If you shoot 30% you make any other team look good.

Consider, though, that the Heat had around 15 turnovers in the second half alone. Dallas took 13 more shots. Shouldn't they have shot a better percentage when the Heat gave up that many turnovers?

How can you lose by 24 points when your opponent has around 20-25 turnovers?

No way to spin this one. Dallas looked bad in this game and Miami looked like world beaters. If they can beat Dallas this badly with that many turnovers, the talent discrepancy must be gigantic.

Something other than just a bad night shooting from the perimeter is required to explain this loss given these facts.

Given those figures, perhaps, but the truth is:the Heat had only 18 turnovers for the entire game. Dallas had 14 or 13 depending on which side of the box score you read. Now that we have that straight, you would think Dallas would have a better percentage, but they did not. They shot about 31%. Not very good. You can lose by 24 points if your opponent is shooting about 50% and you are shooting 31%. I will agree that Dallas looked bad in this game and did not deserve to win. But considering the facts as given in the box score of the game, Dallas may not be as bad as you think and the talent discrepancy certainly is not gigantic as you think!

They scored 7 points in the 4th qtr. :lol

In spite of somehow managing to score 26 & 30 in games 2 & 3, Dirk's shot has been off the entire series. He is 21-61 from the field for the series. I call that choking. Last night the rest of the Mavs caught the disease and now the entire team is in a horrendous shooting slump.

I will give some of the credit to Miami's defense but Dallas got plenty of wide open shots that they missed badly. Dallas scored only 7 points in the 4th and only 30 in the entire second half. They can't beat a junior high team if they continue shooting this poorly.

I think that the Mavs are in big trouble. If they blow this series after being up 13 with six minutes to go in game 3, this will go down as one of the biggest choke jobs ever.

If Dirk is truly a superstar he will step up and prove it. If he cannot provide the leadership this team needs to get back on track- the Heat are going to kill the Mavs.
