My A/C at home hasn't been working properly, so I had a tech come out and look at it. He says that everything looks fine, but that my evaporator coil and blower and wheel assembly need cleaning. He says it will cost about $350. Is that a ripoff or a good deal?

That sounds about right, unfortunately. If you want to call someone else for a comparison, I highly recommend Gillette...

If they actually pull the A-coil and wash it that is cheap. if they just blow it off with air it's a little on the high side in my opinion assuming the unit is easy to get to.

I use a guy out of Seguin. He's never charged me anything that high for a cleaning, though. But, I don't know that he cleaned all that stuff. Usually, cleaning is about $150-$160 when he does it for my AC.

This is a bad year for air conditioners. I've had my repairman out twice already this year. Last week, it was fire ants in the contactor. Contactor had to be replaced because apparently, the ants secrete some stuff that acts like sap, so either the contactor gets stuck open or closed (the one on my AC was stuck open, so the compressor would not come on). Anyway, that cost me $98 for parts and labor.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll call some of these places to make sure I'm getting a fair price.

call Genevieve at 860-6942, tell her Pete Hero gave you her number. She and her husband have owned a good A/C company for years.
