News
Heat center Shaquille O'Neal missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to a sore left hamstring. Neither he nor the team believes the injury is serious, but he is questionable for Friday night's exhibition game. "It's still a little tender," O'Neal told the Palm Beach Post. "I don't want to make something serious out of something small."

Fantasy owners shouldn't worry too much about a minor injury at this point. If the soreness lingers, we'll become a bit more alarmed, but it's early in the preseason and Shaq should be fine.

Saw a Shaq-as-Magic game on NBATV this week. Same infrastructure, but a lot more fat now. Can see it now in his face, his neck, his waist, his butt, his total lack of muscle definition vs mid-90's.

It just convinced me Shaq is still carrying 40 lbs too much fat, with concomitant much increased stresses on joints and ligaments (force goes up by the square of the mass), now 10 years older and 10 years more worn than mid-90's.

Shaq is a classic "what could have been" story of wasted talents.
