Seeing how we just got rid of Rasho, it made me wonder, who is the worst Spur of all time? Doesnt nesecarily have to be from a talent standpoint either, maybe just fitting in ( Charlie Ward) or by screwing us over (Derek Anderson). My vote: Jack Haley

06-23-2006, 02:55 PM
Strickland turned his body 95degrees, looked the other half of the court, passed the ball without looking, and it hit a rocket in the arm. Can any of you imagine the uproar spurstalk would get if parker had done this against Dallas or against any closely matched team in a crucial moment of a crucial game?

They'd be crying to get him tarred and feathered

Bill Curley deserves no place in this conversation -- he was drafted to be traded to Detroit for Sean Elliott. In some ways, if Curley was ever a Spur, he was one of the most valuable because of what he brought back.

And I have no idea how Strickland was negatively influenced as a Spur by hanging out with Jerome Kersey, given that Kersey was in Portland at the time. Perhaps that's just me.

As far as names: Julius Nwosu and Gerard King are both up there somewhere on this list.

ShoogarBear

You can't just say "worst Spur of all time". That's not meaningful.

What is meaningful is worst production-to-expectations. Guys who were supposed to come here and do something but didn't.

On that list, you have Alfredrick Hughes and Charlie Ward. Probably Charles Smith, too.

My bottom 3:

1. Rodman - quitter who somehow never got called out for it by the lame-ass media who shit all over David Robinson

2. Samaki Walker - the king of tantalizing preseasons and frustrating playoffs

3. Alfrederick Hughes - lost a coin flip and thus lost out on Karl Malone instead of this piece of crap who lasted one half of a season in the NBA... how big of a bust do you have to be to be sent home halfway into your first season? That's unheard of for a top-15 pick... and it's not like the Spurs had an itchy trigger-finger or anything, because this guy never made it back with anyone else.

Charlie Ward == Nick Van Exel

Ward was supposed to be the guy who'd let us esacpe from having to use Jason 8-second Hart to bring the ball up the floor. NVE was our answer to Benu halfcourt-trap Udrih. Same to me.... two washed-up backup PGs who were worthless here.

Really?

I thought a big part of trading him was to get Kerr back in SA. Spider-man was a hell of a player. That dude had RIDICULOUS ups. I remember the play he got injured on was where he went up for arebound and got undercut. The dude's crotch was at eye-level with the defender.

That said, his outside jumper was suspect and he wasn't exactly a physical player. He'd be a nice player to bring off the bench though, a 10th man type of the Maurice Evans mold.

highlight of his life was that game against michael jordan where he blocked a couple... if not a few of his shots.

What about Rod Strickland for doing a no look spinning pass to an unintentional cutter at a crucial time in the game against Houston back in 98 or so

Strickland's pass was against Portland in the playoffs if I'm not mistaken. It was in the waning seconds of the game and most people felt it cost us the playoffs that year.

However, I was thinking about Strickland as the worst Spur in a close race with Rodman because of their utter contempt for the city. They didn't want to play here.

The Spurs that chapped my azz everytime they touched the ball because they were worthless:

#5. Carl Herrera-the original stonehands
#4. Mysucky Walker-hated that dude...bad things happened when he went to the scorers table
#3. The big Charles Smith-biggest bust with the biggest expectations
#2. Anthony Carter-pulled the wool over our eyes
#1. Negele Knight-imagine Anthony Carter's game...just suckier. Imagine a worse shooter than Carter (I know it's hard, but try).
