Antoine Walker and Derek Anderson have now been teammates on both NCAA and NBA championship teams.

Name the last such pair.

Why is this is the Spurs forum? Because none of the Mav fans in the NBA forum know anything about basketball before 2000. :p

Lucius Allen and Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar).

NCAA Champions, UCLA 1967 & 1968
NBA Champions, Milwaukee, 1971

Allen and Alcindor did it, but they weren't the last ones before Walker and Anderson.

I'm going to guess that, whoever it was, they went to North Carolina.

ShoogarBear

That would be a no. It wasn't NC, and it wasn't UCLA.

That's easy enough to know...

Houston=Choke City
Cougars=Are in the dictionary under the definition of choke.

You've got to think about the spurs maybe.

You know - Shoog wouldn't put this in San Antonio Forum just beacuse the Mavs fan was invented in 2000

ShoogarBear

No, although the list of college teammates who won NBA titles together like Hakeem and Clyde is probably not very long either.

There are no big names also I've checkd the Magics Thomases and Jordans and Birds. What makes it difficult is that I don't know the NCAA chapions and this is a key (Google it polandprzem !)

For excample Kerr and Beauchler were playing at the same university

ShoogarBear

Okay, I'll give you a hint: yes, they were scrubs on their NBA team. But of course they were stars on their college team (although not All-Americans).

Another hint: One of them has a son who also played in the NBA.

If it came after the 71 Bucks and the guy has a son that played in the NBA that gives a very small Window for the NBA championship....Between 1972 and say 1982, Wasn't UCLA, wasn't NC.

Phil Cheneier and Charlie Johnson were teammates at UCAL Barb and won a championship with the Bullets. I seriously doubt UCAL Barb won an NCAA title though.

Damn it's hard to believe that a guy that was playing in college in 1986 could have a son in the NBA already.

RE: Walker and DA...

I was just looking at the roster of the 96 Wildcats...

That freaking team had 9 NBA players on it...

That's got to be a record in itself.

From a UK fansite, for what this is worth...

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/1995-96.html

This team tied the unofficial record of most players to have made the NBA with nine. [The other teams in question are the '81-82 UCLA Bruins (Mark Eaton, Ralph Jackson, Michael Holton, Darren Daye, Rod Foster, Brad Wright, Stuart Gray, Mike Sanders and Kenny Fields) and the '90-91 North Carolina Tar Heels (Pete Chilcutt, Rick Fox, Hubert Davis, George Lynch, Matt Wenstrom, Eric Montross, Derrick Phelps, Clifford Rozier and Kevin Salvadori)]. Incredibly, the 1946-47 Kentucky squad also had nine players play in the NBA. Below is a listing of the 1996 Kentucky players who made the league.

Player - Initial Team

Derek Anderson - Cleveland Cavs
Tony Delk - Golden State Warriors
Walter McCarty - New York Knicks
Ron Mercer - Boston Celtics
Mark Pope - Indiana Pacers
Antoine Walker - Boston Celtics
Nazr Mohammed - Philadelphia 76ers
Jeff Sheppard - Atlanta Hawks
Wayne Turner - Boston Celtics
