TORONTO (NO. 1)
2005 first-round picks: Charlie Villanueva and Joey Graham
Everything is fl uid at the top. The Raptors may trade down to get a player/pick or they may use the pick. New boss Bryan Colangelo is an Andrea Bargnani fan, but he has a frontcourt of Chris Bosh, Villanueva, and newly acquired Rasho Nesterovic. Help in the backcourt also has to be considered; Mike James is a free agent and there’s not much else. That might explain the Raptors’ willingness to trade down. Colangelo generally picked well and wisely in Phoenix. But he’s already violated May Rule No. 1 with his new team: Never trade with the Spurs.

Well, there's always the possibility that they might forget to draft somebody.

And another take on it--

The arrival of Nesterovic means Chris Bosh will slide over to the power forward position. Head coach Sam Mitchell played with Nesterovic in Minnesota and is familiar with Humphries as well so this should be a seamless transition for the two newcomers.

Showing absolutely no disrespect to Eric Williams and Matt Bonner who will fit in nicely with the Spurs, the Raptors are a better team today than they were 24 hours ago.

They needed a big man to take some pressure off CB4.

The Raptors acquire a player in Nesterovic who can rebound, defend and block shots. Nesterovic doesn't have an ego, he won't complain if he doesn't get a ton of touches.

The good news is that he's locked in for three more years so it's a win-win situation for the player and the team.

The free-agent market for big men is thin to begin with and undoubtedly those eligible players will want five-year deals. Unless a player is a legitimate, proven, day-in-day-out player there is no way I give a player a five-year contract.

This is a contract the Raptors can live with. The Raptors still have the ability to go out and help themselves in the market because they're $10-12 million under the cap. Thank you, Knicks!

My God, will Rasho be able to handle all that love in Toronto???

-and Rasho Nesterovic. So he's batting .500. Not bad, decent. Not many teams are batting .500 against the Spurs. Lakers traded Corey Hightower for the rights to 2 2nd rounders to the Spurs that turned out to be Javtokas and Scola.

It's a good deal for Toronto.
Rasho isn't garbage.
He will be a quite good center next year for Toronto.
I can see him averaging 10 pts, 6rbds.

You can blame Rasho for a lot of things but not all was his fault :
He is slow for sure but it's not his fault if he had to defend the opposite PF instead of the opposite C most of the time.
He is a poor rebounder for sure but it's not his fault if our PG/SG/SF aren't good rebounders (especially our SF).
He didn't score a lot but it's not his fault if he was ou 5th scoring option.

Rasho isn't perfect but blaming Rasho for everything is way easier than blaming Duncan, Bowen and Pop.

With Raptors, he will play with a real PF (Bosh) and with a good rebounding SF (Villanueva) and if he get sometimes the ball on the offesnive end, he will be quite good. (like he was quite good with Minny)
